    4 generations ago, yes!
My family moved to New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1898. Apparently that was the popular spot to emigrate to because to this day the city is about 80% Portuguese...

I'm a full blood Azoriana and my entire family are from the Islands (with a few exceptions). Plan on visiting the Islands and the Mainlands soon, hopefully.

Both. But I'm the girl who would rather go to the farmlands and play with the animals and ride horses than go into the city. Only problem is we don't know anyone who lives in the country area.

In some neighborhoods yes...little portuguese bakeries, malassadas, fresh baked sweet bread, etc.

shops with linguica, chourico, bacalao, etc....meats that I grew up thinking were NORMAL, and when I went out of state I realized that they were only normal in New Bedford due to the high portuguese content!

London here but went to Madeira then Cascais/Lisbon a few years ago and those little custards you do are the most beautiful thing on the planet:)

Oh, the scenery is nice as well and walking earns more calories for more custards:)
