Hi Princess, there's a couple groups for PCOS on here that a really great for information and support :)
I have PCOS too and am pre-diabetic. Feel free to add me if you need a friend!
I'd also recommend checking out the keto groups and seeing if the keto diet might work for you - it's been a great help for me.
    Cheers!
  • I suffer from PCOS and know exactly what you ladies are going through.

We can get through it all together though :) x

pcos, insulin resistant and infertile. pcos caused me to go through menopause at the age of 27 (called premature ovarian failure). making sure to reduce your carbs and increase your protein is super important in managing symptoms. good luck!
  • I'm right there with you ladies! I am trying to lose weight to one day conceive, but also be healthy all over. The PCOS symptoms getting better as I am healthier is the biggest motivation!

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 25 years ago but didn't really start to get treatment specific to it until about 8 or 9 years ago. With a lot of luck, plus surgery and good doctors, I was able to conceive and give birth to twins, now almost 19. I was started on metformin and continue it to this day. I know what all ladies who suffer through this go through.

My wife (karamleik) has PCOS and we struggled with infertility as well. I'm sure she wouild probably accept a friend request if you want a "friend." (She's listed as one of my friends) Take a look at taking a Chromium supplement. When added to the Metformin my wife was able to conceive within 2 months for each of our (almost) 3 kids. #3 is still on the way. Our Doc said he never heard of using Chromium, but it worked for us 3 times in a row.

I didn't have PCOS but my husband and I struggled for four years! We now have a daughter 17 months old, it happened naturally. All the treatment didn't help me. You may have better luck than me:) Stay strong! I know it's tough, i still get teary eyed thinking about it.

I have PCOS and had a dr tell me that I was never going to have children ever again. We even went to a fertility specialist and got no results. My husband and I cried about it quite a bit.

    That was two kids ago.....

I actually was able to conceive once I lost some weight and got pretty healthy (from walking). Next thing I knew, I was pregnant after TTC'ing for about 10 years. Then had another one right after that :-) (Yea, we thought the first one was a fluke lol).

So, I know from experience that things aren't always as they seem....that we have things happen for a reason.

Good luck to you. Feel free to add me :-)

When I found out I have PCOS, my cycle was 5 months late and by then I was in stage 3. No diabetes, been tested twice a year since I was 19 or 20. I left MFP for the last year because nothing was coming off. I tried a diet when I was younger that helped me lose very quickly and my cycle was regular (why I stopped is a good question). Been doing research and talking to others for the last week and found out the diet they are on is very similar to what I was doing and I didn't even know it. So here I am tonight, I would be glad to have a few friends with the same issue.

I would also love to know about any natural supplements that could help insulin levels because I don't have health insurance (thanks, Arizona)

I have the first, had my son before finding out that I had it. No surprise he's a "lonely only" but I cant do much to change it. After taking out the goalie for 5 years we gave up, had I known we would've tried sooner for more :-( Good luck to you, I wish you all the joys of parenthood one day. Today I'm feeling good and have my symptoms under control, I had a lot of pain with my issues, wishing the best for you!!

I started taking Metformin about 12 years ago and was able to conceive twice without too much difficulty. However, getting weight off is still really hard! The combo of metformin and the pill seems to work for me.

I have PCOS too. I have an 8 year old daughter but have been ttc again since 2007 with no luck. Have not taken extreme measures and hope the weight loss helps. Currently I am not on metformin or anything else to treat the PCOS. I can't use BC to control the symptoms either as I had a blood clot in 2006 and had to stop taking BC.
  • I was recently put on Chromium, but my doctor said it was for the diabetes. What was the dosage your wife was on? Congrats to you both on baby number 3 :)
  • What kind of surgery did you have?
  • Good luck to you and your husband. We have been trying since we got married last August. Like you I am hoping that loosing weight helps.
