NORMAL sounding low calorie recipes?

Hi, my name is Megan, I just recently started using my fitness pal and trying to loose wait. (Dang, I feel like I'm in an AA meeting or something) Anywho, I have been doing research on low calorie recipes. Now, I'm from the south. I'm a chicken and potatoes kind of girl. All of this junk is Oyster Pasta and Shrimp salads. Okay, I'm not saying those are bad foods, but I want recipes that sound like something I would eat on a regular basis. Something I would WANT to eat. Where do you get something that isn't all fish and asparagus?

    I use the chicken from the first recipe with the second recipe for another meal instead of making them together.

    Instead I make a sald and light Texas Toast for sides and am able to keep calories under 800. My husbad loves both sauces and my kids like the chicken without the sauces.

    You might find this article interesting. Basically take more of an interest in how food is prepared. For example, instead of friend potatoes, how about tossing them in a little olive oil and herbs and baking them? http://suite101.com/article/cooking-southern-but-healthy-a34773 I've been reading Fitness and Shape magazines for recipes. While I don't care for alot of the foods they make, once in awhile I can find some I like. I LOVE spaghetti with meat sauce. It's a bazillion calories! Now I make it with ground turkey meat, a little bit of italian sausage (baked to get rid of oil) for taste, and I puree onion, garlic and tomatoes for the sauce. Cook it for a bit and serve on a little pasta and it's amazing. Portion control is important so I try to make sure I drink a bottle of water or have an apple before I eat. It makes me fill up, so 1/2 cup isn't that sad to eat. You can do this!!!!
