Back to running and now my weight loss stalled

Has anyone else experienced this? I've lost 15lbs in the past several months slowly but surely. I eat just a bit under my calories (includes exercise) and wanted to kick it up a notch. . . running is going great. I am up to four miles. I feel awesome but my weight won't drop. I am stuck at 126 and meeting my goal of 121 seems impossible now. I've been there for two weeks now. What the heck? Any advice will be helpful!

    keep on going as you are, it will take time, you're making muscle to replace fat and muscle weighs more.

    I've heard that if you only do jogging it's great but only for maintaining weight and if you want to actually lose weight you have to do it differently. For example you run 5 minutes fast, then 5 minutes walk, then 5 minutes jog, then 5 minutes walk and then again 5 minutes fast run and so on....i haven't tried it yet, i've only heard :smile:
    hope it helped:smile::flowerforyou:
    good luck!

    You need to up your calories or eat all your exercise calories back. How many times a week are you running? Its quite a high calorie burner and you need to fuel your body better.

    muscle occupies less space than fat but weighs the same.

    Have you taken your measurements? I haven't been losing much since I started running, but I have shrunk considerably. I've gone down almost 2 sizes, with only a 1 lb weight loss in the last 6 months.

    My rate of weight loss was erratic for a few weeks after I started running, I think because of water retention triggered by the switch from low impact (elliptical) to high impact aerobics. My body came to terms with the change after a while and I lost the final 20+ pounds at a steady pace.

    Thanks for the tips. I am running five days a week. Three days on, one day rest, two days on, one day rest--then repeat!

    I agree with the poster that commented about tracking your measurements instead of your weight at this point. I've seen a lot of examples where people started working out more to 'get in shape' and their before/after photos showed a dramatic difference but the scale showed they actually got heavier!

    The almighty scale is not the end-all be-all when it comes to health and wellness.

    I like this post. I JUST started running (and by running, I mean slow jogging) with the Couch to 5K program a week ago. Also Eat More to Weigh Less 2 weeks ago. I feel like my body is changing faster already, but the scale hasn't moved too much. I have a feeling it will all kick in with time.

    maybe you have hit a plateau and need to do different things. if your body is used to running 5 days a week then it's learning to become more efficient at that which means it's learning how to do more work with less fuel.

    5 pounds doesnt make that big of a difference. are you chasing a number on the scale or a certain look to your body? if you're going for a certain look or less body fat, then maybe try backing off a few of the running sessions and replace that with lifting heavy weights.

    also as far as gaining muscle, newbie muscle gains are only about 1-2 pounds and you're not going to be gaining too much muscle anyway from just running.
