Hello everyone with my busy schedule and with my child in the house I can never make it to the gym early or eat dinner early. What I would like to know from everyone is usually with working out do you eat dinner before or after your work out. I usually go work out around 7-7:30pm and by the time I get home its almost 9 I feel like thats way to late to eat and before going to the gym I dont want to be full. If I dont eat dinner I dont meet my calorie goal. Help please :frown: Thanks

Split it? By which I mean - eat something light before the gym, and something light (and quick to prepare) when you get back? I usually find that eating about an hour before I workout helps with energy levels, and splitting the calories across two small meals means you don't have to sit down to a full dinner at 9pm (which doesn't sound particularly desirable!).
  • you could have a snack before working out, like a banana, bananas help before working out, and you have a protien shake when you get home instead of dinner and a salad, protien shakes help your muscles recover after a workout. theres many different shakes you could do, I like to mix whey protien powder, half banana, strawberries, flax, coconut water or milk or water or unsweetwned juice and ice, and stevia optional

You should have a post workout snack consisting of carbs and protein, no fat to little fat. I usually have a turkey sandwich and if its too late for dinner, I make a shake which also has protein and carbs

I work out around 7 pm in the evening and then eat dinner afterwards - 9ish. Hasn't ever hindered my progress!
