I don't understand why my carbs are set so high

Ok here's the thing. My TDEE is roughly 2400. I have it set at losing 1.5 lb a week (which I recently changed from 2 lb per week as I get closer to my target weight.) When I changed it, the carbs shot through the roof and the fat and protein are pretty low. For someone 5'9 180 that works out 3 times a week (which is considered lightly active since I work a desk job) how does 224 g of carbs seem ideal? And at the same time only 54 grams of fat and 61 grams of protein? This can't be right.. and this is what MFP gives me on the guided goal but i'm tempted to change this to custom. I just don't think there's any way I should be taking in that many more carbs than protein and fat.

I think it's based on the Standard American Diet - the one that drove the obesity crisis.
You can tune it with custom goals at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_custom0 -
imo, you are right. 224 g of carbs for your size seems just absurd or to intentionally gain weight.
I have asked many times how MFP determines the default macro guidelines. It's almost as if they are owned by a grain company the way they set the carbs so high. On the other hand, many old and outdated guidelines are carb heavy.
set your own guidelines by choosing the custom option.
good luck.0 -

What is funny here? I read the post before that talks about Standard American Diet... Which is kind of influenced by that "12 servings of grains a day" nonsense(IMO). Then I read this, and just laughed. Draw conclusions as necessary.0 -

Adjust your settings to what you what them to be. I'm 5.2 110lbs and eat around 100grams of protein a day! Try to keep protein high (assuming you exercise) and carbs around 100. Good luck!0
