Beginner 5K Training Advice Please

Hi there!

I am currently training for a 5K race that is on Sunday 24th June. I've followed the couch 2 5K plan up until the end of week 5. However, as I only have around 2 weeks left until my race I was wondering what sort of training I should do now since I won't really be able to follow the C25K plan as there is not enough time left.

I can run only run about 20 minutes without having to walk to catch my breath. Do you think it would be better to just try and push myself a little more each run or try and do some interval training with longer intervals of running?

Thanks for your help! :)

I would add interval training 3 days per week and weights on 2 days (monday to friday), then on the 6th day, do either an easy yoga or stretching workout, rest on the 7th day. I did my first 5K and subsequent 10K using the 10/1 method (run 10 mins, walk for 1 min) and it didn't negatively affect my finish time at all. hope that helps and good luck!

Oh I like the sound of the 10/1 method, makes it a lot less scary!

Thanks very much for your help :)
