Exercise DVD's

I walk about 1-2 miles every day with my dog and sometimes with my fiance. When I walk with him I can talk, so my guess is I need to start walking faster. I'm not sure if I'm ready for jogging yet, but I have only been doing this (exercising and eating right) for 8 days. I need to lose at least 40 pounds by October, but I should give you some background.

I wasn't sedentary my whole life, I haven't done yo-yo dieting, I didn't gain and then lose and fight a battle against losing. I was lazy. I didn't eat right. I am now. Clearly. I was in the army, I went to Iraq, and I can exercise but I guess my issue is that I feel like I'm not doing enough. The walking is all fine and good, but is it good to: regular walking til I can do it without breathing heavy, fast walk until I can talk, jog then run? I've never really been a runner (top heavy, very top heavy). I am currently doing JM30DS, I'm about to start day 4 today, but are there any exercise DVD's out there that anyone can recommend I do in addition to walking and the 30 Day Shred? I just want to do more. I had this prevention dvd where you did 10 mins each of legs thighs and abs but somehow it doesn't play now. For now I am just wanting to use a DVD where I only use hand-weights and I have a pair of 5 lb weights and a pair of 10 lb weights. I also have a stability ball.

I do have a wii and fit, wii active and a couple other work out games, like 10 minute solutions and outdoor challenge. I also work out every day. I am getting married in Dec and the dress fitting is going to be in October. Help me please :)

If you're not ready for the kind of investment the Beachbody videos take, look into something like Bob Harper's Inside Our stuff (1 cardio DVD, but not a lot of high impact, one strength DVD, one short/split workout, and one power yoga workout) - it costs about 20 bucks for the set at his site. Be warned that the workouts tend to be on the longer side, and substantially harder than something like 30DS.

I absolutley LOVE Turbo Fire DVDs and Les Mills' BodyPump. Both are available through Beach Body, but you can also find on eBay... I never thought I could workout at home and these two have proved me wrong! They are amazing. :)

So, do you think I should do Bob Harper's DVD's concurrent with Jillian Michaels?

That's what I do. I do JM one day a week (Ripped in 30; I can't stand her), and Bob 3 days a week. The other days are pilates/yoga. You could instead do JM alternate days or something like that, if you like her workout.

And on days when I have time, I usually follow JM with a shorter workout from one of Bob's DVDs. While I feel like JM's workouts kick butt while I'm doing it, 20 minutes isn't a lot of time for a good workout.

That's exactly how I feel! 20 minutes isn't a lot of time, but I still struggle a little bit with some of her moves, but I want to do something longer. I'm sure it will be easy to do anything Bob Harper tells me to do, he's easy on the eyes :blushing:

JM is annoying, but I heard so much about 30DS that I started using it. I am still challenged by it, but I want to do something in the morning and afternoon and then my night walk.

I have a Jackie Warner circuit training one I like. It has 15 and 40 minute complete body sessions and like 4 other 15 minute sessions concentrating on abs/upper body/lower body etc. I think I got it at Wal mart for like 10$.

    Hi!

Have you tried the Insanity dvds? I think they are awesome and they work. You'll feel strong and powerful after each workout.

People probably get tired of hearing this from me lol but I can't recommend Insanity enough. As long as you watch the previews and youtube it and it seems like a routine that you'd be interested in, everyone is different..but imo it's the best workout dvd set out there at the moment, aside from the new tapout one but that's just a bit more advanced than where I'm at at the moment.

For low impact exercise I like Leslie Sansone's walk at home DVD's. I mostly do Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire and Chalean Extreme right now and really like them. I do have a Biggest Loser walk at home that is decent for low impact days too.

Looked it up on Wal mart .com. Its Power Circuit Training. This should be where you need to go
