umm.. wow.. That many??!

Ok so as a little experment with my brand spanky new ft4 HRM, I decided to wear it all day, to get some sort of average reading for my TDEE. It was my rest day so this doesn't include exercise cals.

So i got up at about 8ish and then Im in bed now at about 10pm (don't judge me, I'm boring, and reading my book!)

So from 8am- 10pm with no exercise I'm now at the 2200cal mark.
Im only 119lbs and 5'3 little midget I am

So take 500 cal off that and you get 1700cal.
plus my exercise cal (p90x + insanity- usually burning on average 4-500 cal a day)

so back up to 2200 cal. (not including sleeping cals either.. urgh)

Now factor in P90x nutrition plan... 50% protein macros....holy fork! that's over 200 g of protein needed per day.

I know most of you will say "you only need 1 g of protein per LBM, I know I know, But i wanna get the most i can outta p90x.

Ive been reading my male friend diaries and even some of them arnt hitting that sorta protein goal.

I pre-plan my diart, and it seems all Im eating majorly is cottage cheese, greek yoghurt and chicken breast (cant eat eggs or milk). since converting to clean eating, im finding it hard to get my macros set up rght, and eat all those cals without stuffing my dammed face. im always full and just don't want to eat, with over 500 cals left fr the day. it also seems as if its makign me cut down on my fruit and veggies. to fill that portien portion IM having to scarafic good veggies cause I go over carbs.
has anyone else got thier macros set like this?

does anyone else seem to think that someone at 119lbs really needs to eat that much? I mean, numbers dont lie, but its just so dammed much.

ive been reduced to eating tablespoons of PB (not clean, i know) and i HATE pb, plus it sets my fat macros through the roof.

it just seems way to much

plus god know the last time i friggin ate a slice of bread or a sweet potato

my diary is open. but any ther ideas wont hurt..

Numbers don't lie but a HRM is making an estimate based on averages, and I'm not so sure it's designed to estimate TDEE. I don't think for 14 hours of the day, with no exercise, for someone your size, that 2200 calories sounds reasonable. I've got 50 lbs. on you and it takes me 24 hours of a fairly active day (walking 5 miles plus added exercise) to burn that much, according to my Fitbit.

At 5'3" and 119 lbs, how much more do you think you need to lose?

Honestly curious because I'm 5'3" and the best shape of my life (after Navy boot camp), I was 127.

I wish I could eat more. I am 5'3" 117lbs and my BMR is 1197calories.

If I don't exercise, I am doomed to be stuck with an allowance of 1200 calories a day. boo.

You do realize that your BMR is how many calories you burn doing absolutely nothing all day? Like in a coma do nothing.

Hey girl!! I'm just about 5'3 as well. I eat on average 1800-2500 cals a day (I know big range, but whatevs). I got down to 118, and then started to bulk up, lift, and gain more lean muscle mass. I'm not hovering in between 120-125 and am 17% body fat. I'm with morrison, if I go below these numbers I lose. You can add me if you want to take a look at my days and see what all I'm doing!

Edited to say: I wear size 2/4 and XS tops (XS.....it's a curse, not a blessing!!!!)

The 12 might be in Australian sizing, which is about equal to a US size 8.

The algorithms that your HRM use to estimate caloric burn were devised for use when the body is under stress (exercise). They make extrapolations based on the data you've told it about you (age, weight etc) and the HR it detects. Those algorithms don't work for lower heart rate activity (including rest).

You could find more detail on this via google if you wanted to know more. Or indeed it's been discussed a few times on these threads.

I'm 5'0" size 5-6 and 113lbs down from 125 in January. I'm doing low carb (~80g) high protein (~120g). I burn about 200 cals a day and consume 1,250 net cals a day so I'm really getting about 1,400 calories a day. I also watch my sodium and make sure I drink plenty of water. I'm losing slowly but surely... My ultimate goal is to get a flat belly.

I also take a green tea and a cinnamon supplement. I think it has helped significantly with losing water weight and the cinnamon helps my blood sugar levels.

woopsies.. yes aussie sizing.. it equates to about size 5-6 jeans in american. I have a pair of size 3 yoga pants but they are STRETCHY!!

I forget australia is not the centre of the universe lol!

HRM is not meant to be worn all day and is not accurate for that purpose..

if you wanted that you should have looked into a body media fit or body bugg or whatever that are intended to be worn all day and show your total daily calorie burn.

I'm no expert but from reading up a lot of things weight-loss and fitness related, it sounds to me like you don't need to try and eat less, but you need to get lifting some weights to get toned.

I generally aim to eat my weight in protein , give or take 10 or 20. If I eat more than that, I tend to have some major belly issues.

I don't think that HRM's are designed to be worn all day and I'm not sure that's accurate. However, if you are an active little person, it is possible. I am 5'4", 140 pounds, and I have a body bugg. I can burn just as much, if not more, on a rest day because I'm cleaning, playing with my kids, shopping, etc.

HRM's are really only accurate for aerobic exercise- when you get in to high intensity anaerobic exercise (lifting or sprinting) or closer to rest, the calorie algorithm they use becomes less and less accurate the farther away from the aerobic "zone". If using the HRM during rest, really you can only get accurate numbers for your resting heart rate.
