Lose weight and feel stuffed!?

I am finding that I need less food to make me feel "full". But sometimes, like today, the meal is so good that I eat seconds... EVEN THOUGH IT IS ALRIGHT CALORIE-WISE. I am not going over. But shouldn't I be learning to STOP when I no longer "feel hungry"?

After inputting my foods for today and my exercise... I still have about 200 calories leftover.

But I am full.

Shouldn't I not feel FULL!?

How can I lose weight and not feel a wee bit hungry?

Is it normal not to "need" to eat so much to "feel full" after a bit?

I know, I know. An odd post/question.

I feel like when you start eating better, you just start to eating healthier foods-- higher in fiber and protein and so on; these things fill you up faster and keep you full longer than junk food so you ultimately may end up having to eat less. I find that when I time my snacks and meals ( like 3 hours apart)..I am pretty satisfied all day! Who says you have to be hungry?

Your stomach may be shrinking also, especially if you are eating smaller meals several times a day.

Your stomach may be shrinking also, especially if you are eating smaller meals several times a day.

You cannot physically shrink your stomach unless you have surgery like gastric bypass, or if you have an atrophic medical condition.

Your stomach is a muscular organ and, like any muscle, it expands and contracts according to usage. It stretches when it's full and returns to its initial size when empty. Research shows that following a reduced-calorie diet can help shrink your sensation of hunger.

I've noticed I've been getting hungry more often, but fuller faster. Maybe try eating smaller amounts more often.

When I first started, I was hungry all the time. I was so hungry I thought I wasn't going to make it in my lifestyle change.

I've been doing this since January 31st and since incorporating a lot of raw veggies, whole grains, and lots of fiber in my diet, I haven't been hungry.

For example, this morning for breakfast I had 1 cup Special K, 1 cup 1% milk, and 10 strawberries. I was so full, I had to lie on the couch for a few minutes to let everything settle.

In my experience, my hunger sensations don't have anything to do with whether or not I'll lose weight. That just depends on what and how much I eat, and how much I've exercised on any given day. I agree that if you feel full you should stop eating, however, there have been times I've tried to do this but start feeling hungry a short time later and end up eating more anyway. Sometimes I don't.

You just have to decide what works for you!

There's a difference between feeling satiated and having a distended stomach.
