anyone have a good recipe for salad dressing??

i usually use some salt, pepper, rice vinegar, and olive oil but i tend to go too crazy on the olive oil otherwise i don't think it tastes good. does anyone have any good recipes for salad dressing that are healthy and not too high in calories??

    I'm Thai. I always have my salads with Lime juice, sprinkle of salt and a lot of chili pepper... No oil, no sugar, no fat.

    1/2 tablespoon olive oil
    1/2 to 1 tablespoon lemon juice (depending on your taste)
    1/2 tablespoon red wine vinegar
    healthy sprinkle of dill
    a little garlic salt
    black pepper to taste

    That's my go-to. You can mix it ahead but I find that to be more of a pain than just putting it on one ingredient at a time when I make the salad.

    I dont have a good one to make yourself....but bolthouse farms makes a really tasty low fat low calorie yogurt dressing.

    This is a single serving recipe - obviously you can adjust to your needs...

    1 T olive oil
    1 T balsamic vinegar (sometimes I use white which is really good!)
    1 T deli mustard
    minced garlic to taste

    So good! The mustard really makes it stick together.

    We use grape seed oil. very low in calories. Avilable at most supermarkets. We add balsamic vinigaer to the oil, 1 calorie

    I use fresh limes and cilantro with some olive oil and chopped garlic and pepper. I chop red onion and tomatoes and make it a spinach salad! It's so amazing!!

    thanks so much everyone i need to try all of these they sound so good :) i was getting bored with my salads so hopefully these new dressings will spice up my salads a bit

    That's almost exactly what I use already for a salad dressing. I just swap the vinegars sometimes. I do not add any salt. But I may put some grated cheese in it.

    I found this one on Pinterest. It's amazing if you like Ranch dressing. You can adjust the milk to reach the consistency you like.

    1 cup Dannon Oikos plain nonfat greek yogurt
    1 packet hidden valley ranch (dressing, not dip)
    1/2 cup 1% milk
    Whisk together in bowl and chill for 1 hour before serving.

    This recipe will almost fill an empty Prego jar. (it's what I had on hand) The best part....this ENTIRE jar of dressing, is only 255 calories, 1.75 grams of fat, 42 carbs and 34 protein. Depending on how much you use, the jar should have 20-24 servings.

    my go-to dressing recently is the following:

    1 clove of garlic grated through a microplane (zester)
    big spoonful of your fave mustard
    smaller spoonful of honey/silan/maple syrup...whatever you have on hand
    less than 1/4 cup of red wine vinegar
    salt and pepper to taste
    combine the ingredients above and then stream in about 2 tbsp of olive oil, whisking constantly.

    SO flavorful and addictive.

    I recently started making my own honey mustard dressing. I am phasing out other kinds of dressing I am/was using.

    Anyhow I make mine like this:
    **1 teaspoon Frenches Dijon Mustard (It has the chardonnay)
    **1 tablespoon Natures Hollow sugar free honey.
    **1 teaspoon water

    Mix, stir, use.
    It's only 24 calories. I make pretty big salads, 2 cups romaine, 2 cups spinach, all kinds of veggies (cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, red onions, sometimes raw peppers) and that amount of dressing is more than enough for me.

    *edit, I also add 1 crack of fresh ground pepper to it, then stir it all together.

    Honey, 1 tbsp
    Florida's Natural - 100% Pure Florida Orange Juice (Not From Concentrate), 2 fl oz
    Morton - Coarse Kosher Salt, 1/4 Tsp, 1/4 tsp
    Tone's - Ground Black Pepper, 1/4 tsp.

    Try stronger flavoured oils - I like sesame, walnut, and lemon the best. I mix with fresh lemon juice, pepper, sometimes dijon mustard, sometimes a spoon of pesto (yum with tomatoes!) and sometimes (sounds odd, but tastes good) concentrated chicken stock. You get a lot of taste and don't need so much oil.
