I think everyone who is on a weight loss journey has a stage where they do not loose anything. If it makes you feel any better in 4 weeks i have only lost 1.6lb :-( i ensure that i have at least a 4000 calorie deficit every weeks and have only lost weight on one of those weeks. Have you tried changing your exercise regime for some people this is the most effective way of getting out of the plataeu0
-
What type ofexercise are you doing and how often? Can you open your diary so we can see what you are eating? Are you taking any measurements for waist, neck, etc? You may not be losing weight but you may be losing fat.
Either way, keep at it. It took a long time for me to start notcing a difference in the scale.0 -
my workout week is doing Zumba Cardio Party 4 times a week its 50 mins long and ranges from low intensity to high throughout,
i guess it just sucks lol0 -
my diary is open didnt realise is was private haha0
-
Don't get discouraged. You're losing at a good rate. You should be aiming for roughly 1lb to 1.5lb per week in order to minimise loose skin.
Just keep your chin up and keep ploughing through.
You're losing which is the main thing.0 -
Hi, I feel your pain. I am not new to regaining/losing the same 20lbs and it is frustrating. Hang in there.0
-
It's extremely frustrating when we don't lose up to out expectations. I looked through your diary and although you've stayed below your calories you do need to clean it up, a lot. Eat less processed food and more fruits and veggies. Also, are you being 100% honest and accurate with your diary?
You're learning a new lifestyle. It takes a while. Just don't give up. Good luck0 -
Zumba is an awesome workout. Maybe you should incorporate some other workouts on the days you aren't doing Zumba like running or maybe so weightlifting. Just make sure you are actually enjoying your workout. If you arent looking forward to doing it then you probably won't get out and do it or put as much into it as you could.0

hey matt i am being 100% translucent with my diary and i dont eat fruits and veggies haha i dont liek them XD0
-
thanks everyone!! this is all fab advise!! i shall keep chugging on im sure i will start losing soon enough xx0
-
Just had a look at your diary and unless you are in a highly active job then perhaps your daily calories are too high. Also agree with the above comments about your foods. You seem to be eating high calorie foods that won't keep you full very long and your daily calories are getting used up pretty quickly.
If you post your stats I can have a try at figuring out what your daily calorific intake should be. If you don't feel comfortable posting them then feel free to message me with them.0 -

I didn't like them either but knew it was needed for my health. There's a lot of different one. There must be 1 or 2 you like.
Great work on the diary being accurate. Keep going strong!0 -
I notice your diet seems to consist of alot of bread and crips, which is a diet killer. You say you don't like veg but could you not try adding some butter or sauce to veggies and may putting fruit in yoghurt or cereal. I think if you tried replacing the bread and crisps with healthier stuff you may see a big difference. I'm not an expert mind and I still like stuff like that once in a while but I find my mind and body are alot happier now I have cut them right down. Good luck anyway and I hope you find what works for you :flowerforyou:0

Sounds like we're in the same boat! I have gotten to the point where I had to stop reading success stories and logging my food for a bit. The only thing i've been logging is my exercise...don't know why. As of this morning I have lost 3.6 lbs and I have been at this weight loss thing for almost 3 months. I recently increased my calories because I was intaking only 1280 calories a day and was netting around 940, my body was in starvation mode.
Give it some time! In the last week I have simply added crunches into my workout regimen to start building muscle slowly. I've been eating more fruits and veggies than ever, this is one way I've increased calories in a healthy way. I know it's discouraging but just know you're not alone.0 -
yeah maybe you all are right i should cut the carb stuff ill do some research and see if i can find some fruit i like thanks again everyone!!! this is all very helpful!0

I'm sorry, is this a joke?
You eat fries, whiskey, potatoes, ice cream, 4 slices of french toast one day, Rice, ice cream, whiskey another day, Cheese, doritos, ice cream, whiskey another day and you expect to lose weight?!?
You don't eat breakfast. You haven't put that you've drank any water. You don't eat fruits or vegetables or whole grains, eggs or dairy-you are pretty much missing the bottom 3/4 of the food pyramid.
You do realise that bowel cancer is a very common problem amongst those that only eat processed rubbish with no fibre don't you?!? You do realise that bowel cancer means you need a colostomy bag don't you?
I could eat 1200 calories worth of ice cream every bloody day and not be over calories, BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT OK!
I'm not sorry for being harsh. NO ONE in this day and age can be that uneducated about diet. The people losing weight are losing weight because they're eating healthy foods.
Get yourself a personal trainer and/or a nutritionist. Or read Michelle Bridges' book 'Crunch Time'. You need to learn a lot about nutrition and chemical reactions in the body. And you NEED to start eating vegetables and fruit.0 -

woah to start with i DO eat breakfast!! just these past few weeks i havent as im not hungry! i asked for support not for u to rag on me!! if you dont have anything nice to say dont ****ing say it and thanks alot for pushing me back to where i was when i started this post!!!!0 -
I agree with the others. As you have a diet which consists almost entirely of refined carbs (white flour, white rice, sugar), negligible protein, and no vegetables or fruit this may be why your are having difficulty. While your diet choices are certainly your own business it is generally agreed that this type of diet messes with your insulin levels and makes it difficult to lose weight. The alcohol is also a contibuting factor and not just for the calories as it is more easily burned by your body than fat. ( I like to drink wine so this is something I have to deal with as well!) Perhaps you can use the carb, fat, and protein tracker to help you to create a balance which can help your body become more efficient at burning calories? Good luck and don't get discouraged, you an find your way through this!0

You're comparing yourself to people who are eating amazingly well and wondering why you're getting nowhere when you're eating bad food. You laugh about hating vegetables and fruit? Well, what other healthy food is there?!? How can we help if you laugh about eating healthily?? We are not going to say your diet is OK and to keep going as you are, don't worry about the food we are designed to eat-continue with ice cream and whiskey and magically the weight will melt off?
If you're serious about losing weight, darlin' you NEEEED to eat vegetables and fruit, up the protein from lean meat and keep the rest clean. Lean meat is turkey steaks, chicken breasts, tuna, salmon, lean steak.
You need to eat breakfast and you need to start having protein for breakfast so a poached (not fried) egg and a piece of multigrain toast or a yoghurt with nuts or a protein shake.
You need to start snacking healthily-nuts and a piece of fruit, a multigrain (ryevitas) crispbread with ricotta or cottage cheese, a yoghurt with nuts. You should be having protein with every meal. Every time you have something sweet like fruit, have a couple nuts (not many, nuts are highly calorific) to stop your sugar rollercoastering.
For dinner, don't eat rice. Instead get one of those thin pita breads, spread some tomato sauce on it, cut up some capsicum peppers, onion, mushroom, get some tinned pineapple and grill some chicken, chuck some low fat cheese on top and grill it. Voila, easy healthy pizza.
Boil some pumpkin, sweet potato, peas, corn and potato (although I do say below to cut it out) then put it in a roasting tray and roast it til it's crispy. There you go, healthy roast veges.
Sainsburys have low fat microwave meals - There's a minced beef hotpot one, chicken hotpot one etc. They are fairly low in calories, really tasty and really quick if you're late home from work.
Look up healthy (make sure they are actually healthy) recipes, cook a tonne. Divide it up and freeze it.
Limit your starches so try to cut out potatoes and keep your carbs to a minimum. My old PT used to say, carb loading and not enough cardio=fat.
Cut out the whiskey and have it one night a week. You can then eat the magnum on this cheat day as well and the crisps. Limit them to this one day but don't overdo them. Don't eat back your hard earned week on one day.
I don't mean to be mean because I know how hard it is to lose weight but honestly. You cannot say that you look at your diet and say that you eat like you want to lose weight. Write what you've eaten in the past fortnight down in a list and highlight the healthy foods you've had. *shrug*. Hope this post helps and makes up for my nastiness before.0 -
well i cant thinnk this will help me forgive ur nastyness because that really upset me, before u commented i was actually in the process of writing down recipes for fruit smoothies and i dont need to eat veg im taking vitamins because i have an eye condition that means i need them (because i dont like veg i substitue) but thankyou for your help0
-
I think you just need to learn what to eat. You say you have been big since you were 5 or 6. So I'm guessing you didn't really eat healthy from childhood.
Give veggies a go you may learn to love them.0 -
i already have tried veggies :P ive been trying them for years and i jsut cannot stomach them!! but i am going to eat more fruit0
-
eee all I can think of is what would you prefer? To learn to love vegies or to have to carry around a colostomy bag when you're 50.0

Losing weight is 80% food and 20% exercise. You can be eating 1000 calories of vegetables and lean protein and exercising, or you could be eating 1000 calories of ice cream and nachos and exercising. With one, you will lose weight, with the other, you will not. I haven't looked at your diary, but I know from my own personal experience that if I eat fats like cheese and burgers, I don't lose weight, regardless of how much I exercise. Hang in there!0

I was just about to recommend putting your veggies and fruits in a smoothie add vanilla whey protien sweeten it with splenda or honey ...I use a ninja so that everything comes out smooth and yummy...I eat fruits and veggies but it just helps me to get in the recommended amount and helps me keep my protien levels up. This is a journey, a process, do thing one step at a time...otherwise you wil become overwhelmed and give up...so take one bad habit this week and replace it with one of the good ones...and keep adding a new habit each week....and ignore the ugly posters/comments...that would have set me back too...0 -
ok thankyou i get it im getting a blender tonight and will start my FRUIT smoothies tomorrow and bear in mind i am getting the vit and mins i need im taking vit and min tablets0
-
What all veggies have you tried if you don't mind me asking?
It may be the way you are preparing them as well. No rule says you can add a lil seasoning or prepare it a different way. If you like chicken, grill the chicken and use the same seasoning you use on your chicken to season your veggies. Grilling them together combines the flavors and you may get an unexpected surprise.
Also, you may just not like the taste of canned veggies. Fresh is always better tasting and better for you.0 -
Oh an not to discount the fact that you take supplements to replace your vitamins, but I promise that a couple of servings of vegetable will make you feel much fuller than a couple of pills.0
-
my other half has made me try all veg that im aware of haha and my mum got me to try them in a stew where they were pratically mush but i just couldnt enjoy them
im just odd :P0
