I just moved and have no idea where my manual is...

How do you know if your HRM needs new batteries?

Mine is acting funny. Granted, I haven't used it in a month. But still, yesterday it was giving me a crazy HR and then it would stop if I tried to reset it. Grrr.. I got it for Christmas last year and have used it quite frequently.

Flaky heart rate readings could indicate low batteries. Could also indicate poor contact with skin or interference.

Test the battery with a voltmeter :p

Make sure you wash the strap, also. I let mine go too long and the salt build-up from my sweaty skin messed with the readings. It kept cutting in and out. I gave it a good wash in the sink and it went back to normal. The battery should last at least a year, so if you got it at Christmas and take the center piece off the band every time you're done with it, the battery should still be good.

The low battery indicator is displayed when 10-15% of the battery capacity is left.
In cold conditions, the low battery indicator may appear, but will disappear when the temperature rises.
The back light and sound are automatically turned off when the low battery indicator is displayed.

    Try this link: http://www.polar.fi/en/support/F4

Usually when there is an erratic HR reading, it has something to do with the strap.

Oh nooooooooooooooo! You don't normally take the center piece off???? Dang it! That might have drained your battery super fast? The strap is machine washable too, you might try that and see if it helps...I hope your battery isn't dead! That stinks! Good luck girl!
