Why are some people so hurtful?

So... if someone comes on the message board complaining that they are not losing, we are not supposed to tell them what they are doing wrong.. we are just supposed to sit here and be like there there.. it will all be ok, and the scale is stupid and blah blah blah.. uh no, doesn't jive with me.
If people ask a question, I am going to give them a straight forward answer.. because thats just how I am. I'm not going to change if someone doesn't like it.. and if they don't like it, well then they can choose not to read my response.. that simple.0 -
I have always wondered that question. The thing is...It isn't just here. People are rude over the net because they can get away with it.
That's why. Those people I have learned to ignore. They are not worth my time nor day, to worry about.0 -

I didn't see what the OP originally posted because she erased it now but the only thing I have to say about your comment is that sometimes the people giving advice and stuff don't even read everything the OP's write. They make a generalized assumption and spout off with all the stuff the OP had to be doing wrong to not be succeeding.
Monday I posted asking if the pain in my shins were shin splints even though they started hurting "before" I started running while I was just walking. I walk all the time and hike a lot up in the mountains and stuff and they had never hurt before. Every single post was you should stop running if its going to cause pain. Uh did you even read my post  Its probably not the same situation as this OP stated but I am sure it is the same effect. People not reading and just making blanket statements and then not paying attention when the OP clarifies whatever they said. I have seen plenty of people fairly new here post things and get completely torn down. Not because people were posting things to be helpful, just because there were some nasty people who think their way is the best/only/unquestionable way to do something and tear down anyone who does something differently. Personally I take everything I see on the forums in stride because people tend to be ruder/nastier/meaner/jerks online then they are in real life just because they aren't accountable for their behavior.0 -
One day the Buddha was walking through a village. A very angry young man came up and began insulting him. "You have no right teaching others," he shouted. "You are as stupid as everyone else. You are nothing but a fake."
The Buddha asked the young man "Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone, and that person does not take it, to whom does the gift belong?"
The man was surprised to be asked such a strange question and answered, "It would belong to me, because I bought the gift."
The Buddha smiled and said, "That is correct. And it is exactly the same with your anger. If you become angry with me and I do not get insulted, then the anger falls back on you. You are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you have done is hurt yourself."0 -

Humm I want to remember this. From both standpoints.0
