Im really struggling with figuring out what would be a good number of calories for me, I've been trying to stick around the 1500 mark which is fine for a couple of days and then i get a day when i literally cant stop eating. Its as though i wake up one day after a good couple of days and my stomach is growling all day and i just cant fill up. When im off plan and not tracking i eat a lot, i dont know how much as i dont count but i know its prob at the very least 2500 probably closer to 3000 or more. Im 25, height: 5 ft 8, 154 pounds. Goal weight is 140pounds, at the moment im not exercising and spend most of the day pottering round the house (i have two young children) I don't know if i just have a really fast metabolism but i can eat a lot when off plan and dont really notice a significant weight gain.
Sorry for babbling on and thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm guessing that having 2 young kids you burn more than you think. You might consider getting a fitbit, so you get a gauge of how active you really are.
Also, be sure you aren't just eating calorie dense foods like nuts, peanut butter, oils, fatty meats, etc. You can hit your calorie goal quickly without really filling up.
How long have you "been at it"? Have you lost any weight?0 -
I used to have a fitbit, and it used to tell me that i was burning on average 1800-1900 calories a day, previously to this i had a body bugg which used to show me burning approx 2200 on a day when i did no more than walk to the bathroom and back.
Im useless at sticking to my calories as i get soooo hungry so give up. When i have stuck to 1500 ish calories i've lost about 5 pounds in 2 weeks.0 -

What you eat can be the very thing that makes you want to eat more...I found higher the carbs and higher the sugar...the hungier i was. I cut alot out and the hunger left. so did the pounds...the insulin and blood pressure pills LOL0

I wouldn't say my diet was that bad to be honest. Don't eat a huge amount of carbs or sugar.0

totally agree cut out sugar and that may help out faster than you think0 -
Don't starve yourself. Take your time to make eating right a good habit. If you chose to eat less throughout the day, you will get super hungry at night, and thats bad because you will then go to sleep and not be burning those calories. Eat bigger breakfast and lunches and you will not be so hungry at night. Maybe eat 3, 4, or 5 smaller meals a day, with each one descending in quantity..? Do you get enough sleep?0
