I feel like I should make small goals for myself, but I am afraid of failing...yet again...What are some good ones? I already drink water all day long every day. What goals have you all set for yourself that keep you going?

    My going is to keep going no matter how hard it is to reach it :) ( this applied to every goals in my life ;weight loss, my business, relationship, etc)
    Don't be afraid to fail because thats the proof that you have at least try it.

    When I first started, my goal was to have a healthy breakfast and lunch every day. It made it easier because if I wanted anything 'bad' for me, I would say to myself "Wait until dinner" and then by the time dinner came around I wouldn't want it any more. Usually I had a healthy dinner too, but sometimes I'd get a pizza with my housemate, but I wouldn't feel guilty.

    It's all about baby steps. Break up your goal weight into smaller, more manageable ones, and think of a reward for reaching each one (NOT FOOD!). Here are mine as an example:
    150lbs = Manicure
    145lbs = Hair cut
    140lbs = Pedicure (or new nail varnish, depending on how much money I have)
    135lbs = New sandals
    130lbs = Highlights
    125lbs = Leg & bikini wax (not sure if this is really a treat!?)
    120lbs = New bikini

    I'm not really that vain-honest! The rewards are basically just a way for me to prepare for my summer holiday. I've chosen the nails, sandals and bikini I'd like, printed out photos and stuck them on my 'Motivation wall' along with a countdown to my holiday, and a weight-loss tick off chart thing. Maybe I went a bit overboard, but it's worked so far for me!

    Good luck with your weight loss. You can do it!

    I've set mini goals throughout this:

    Some of them have included:

    1) getting back up to a 10 minute mile on the treadmill (started out very very slow with lots of walking)
    2) being able to sustain a 10 minute mile for 10 minutes, then 20, then 30
    3) completing 30 day shred
    4) completing ripped in 30
    5) started out cutting out all sugar (I have a HUGE addiction) and doing meat, fruits and veggies--I've added it back in now
    6) upping my protein to # of grams per lb of lean body weight (still working on this one)
    7) Now...completing New Lifting Rules for Women

    I've struggled more with nutrition than exercise so it may be time to set a better nutrition goal for myself now.

    You can do it. I promise you can. My suggestion is to focus on either exercise or nutrition big time and not try to change everything at once. Pick the one you're likely to be the most successul with (the other will follow).

    Good luck!

    I always look forward to my next 10 lbs lost.. =)
    I also make goals to add another 5 or so min's to my workout,
    or to go for an extra walk during the day.. I started out upping my workout about 2 and 5 minutes.

    This is a GREAT idea. I've found that the closer I get to my goal weight, the harder it is to lose pounds. My over all fitness and health are still really improving though so I definitely don't want to give up because of the dumb scale. I've set a few NOT weight related goals to keep myself motivated this summer:

    -drink all my water each day
    -be able to do 5 push ups (working on this but progress is slow!)
    -lose a pant size (inches come off a lot easier for me than pounds)

    Looking forward to hearing other people's responses too!
