Self Esteem Tip - You are good enough!

Hi all! I really struggle with emotional eating and self esteem. I always hear tips about doing affirmations to help build self-esteem, but I always feel so cheesy and fake when I attempt it. Even when I persist, I would do it once or twice, and then forget.

Well, I found a solution that works for me. I have my wallpaper set on my phone that is a picture of a hand that says, "YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH." Simple, right? In a way, it's kind of beautiful. No matter if you are chunky/thin/healthy/sedentary/single/married/etc ... you are good enough. It doesn't suggest that we can't improve, but simply that you are good enough and should treat yourself with love and respect. You are good enough to go after your dreams and start today to change.

Now, maybe this isn't the affirmation for you. But, I would suggest that if you are into affirmations, put them right on your cell phone. Speaking as a 26 year old, I check my phone probably 100+ times a day. Every time I look at it, I smile at the reminder that I am good enough. It's the best reminder for me!

    .
  • Thank you so much for this! This is perfect. I am in the same boat as you - I feel soo cheesy doing affirmations, but there is one that sticks with me even to this day.

"I am beautiful, intelligent, competent and caring - the hurt, anger, and jealousy of others will not change the truth."

I used that back when I was pregnant with my second child, because no matter what I did, I felt like it was not good enough. Your affirmation picture is short and sweet, simple. It is easy to remember, and seeing as there is a picture, it is easy to slip that on as a wallpaper and see it every time you check your phone. Great idea!

Love this! You are MORE then good enough. You are the CREATOR of your day. What will your day bring? !

    Pooh-ology!
"When you wake up in the morning, Pooh," said Piglet, "what's the first thing you say to yourself?"
"What's for breakfast?" said Pooh. "What do you say, Piglet?"
"I say, ‘I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?’ " said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully. "It's the same thing," he said.”

27 and I don't have a cell phone, though, I agree with you fully... including the beginning part of feeling silly.

You know what? That is genius. Anytime you feel those negative thoughts coming on, talk to the hand. LOL. Cheesy, but maybe just cheesy enough to work on that inner nagging mean voice. Good suggestion.
