I've never had a HRM and am clueless....so does anyone have this? or would recommend it? Should I buy it?

The Polar F4 should come with the chest strap. There are HRMs that don't have chest straps but they aren't as accurate. You should definitely buy it, the F4 is great and a real eyeopener when it comes to how many calroies you're really burning.

This will do exactly what you need. Is this person your buying it from someone you know?
If not, possibly try to see if it works before purchasing it.(just to make sure)

sorry guys one more question, I think I might just buy one online instead of taking the chance of buying a faulty item from a random person from Craigslist.

what do ya'll t hink about the POLAR FS1?

Grrr still shopping around for a HRM. Was about to invest in an F4 ($90) when I read a lot of bad reviews about how fast it breaks and how inaccurate it is. So the next step up would be an F6 but its all of $110.

Comments? I really just want to buy a HRM ASAP to get on track and am getting frustrated. :grumble:

    PLEASE HELP!

Please tell me what HRM you are using, cost, how long u've had it and give it ur reviews

I've been using the Polar F4 for 2 years now and I haven't had any problems with it. I immediately noticed a difference in my weight loss so I don't think it is inaccurate. I know there are lots of people on the site that have them and I haven't heard any bad reviews. The F6 is nice too though!!

Going on 1 year with my F4 and still going strong. :)
  • I have the FS-1 . It's your basic HRM. I wish I spent more and got one with more features (like calories burned). However, I do like it and I know I'll push myself harder . Also, I would try to stay with a new one, there is a battery in the strap, that I believe you have to send it back to Polar to be replaced. Maybe someone else can confirm that. Good Luck.
