Has anyone tried or read about either? I came across the 4 Hour body - Slow carb diet and it seems doable and had some good reviews. I got the gist of this diet its pretty simple with what you can and cannot eat. Then while trying to read more reviews I came across the Spike 84 diet which I saw some good reviews for but I cant find alot of information on. Basically you eat your bmr for 6 days and double the amount on the "spike (cheat)" day.

So my dilemma which diet is better and easier to stick too? If you have tried it how much weight did you lose?

And for the spike diet - what types of food can you eat during the week when you are counting calories??

I really want to start soon and wont be able to get the books for a while.

I am currently just watching what I eat and 2nd week into insanity workouts.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys!!

thanks, Aish

Is 4 Hour Body the Tim Ferriss thing? I did it for a week or so. I didn't like the food. And I think Ferriss is a goomba who was just making a diet out of his own lifestyle, to sell another book.

yes it is by him. Yea its hard just eating proteins and beans. I sure would miss my cereal and fruits!!! Have you heard of spike 84? I think its the same concept with the cheat day but you can eat a certain amount of calories the other days. I think there are no restrictions to what type of food.

I haven't heard of it but if the plan appeals to you, give it a try the way you've explained it above. You should lose weight. There's never, ever any secret formula. They act like there is, to sell books. I personally wouldn't waste my money on the books unless you find them motivating. Your time and money are probably better spent on healthy eating/fitness books by real authorities.

Oh by the way, you mentioned 4 Hour Body has good reviews. Tim Ferriss pays people, LOTS of people, to post glowing Amazon reviews of his books. Seriously. If you've read his 4 Hour Work Week book you know that's totally his style.

Oh really??? That sucks - His diet plan has a lot more restrictions hence Spike 84 made a lil more sense. I am eating right and doing insanity I def feel a diff in my body - and I was losing weight but Ive been gaining back the past few days. I think it maybe im eating to few calories? Im so confused and hate seeing the scale go up. I just was hoping something with a lil more rules I might do better?

Don't judge anything by a scale reading from the past few days!! Especially if you added something new like Insanity! Your body could be changing composition for months and the scale lies that whole time. I think your muscles hold water before growing or something. Don't weigh. Go by how you feel and how you're clothes fit.

You don't need a new plan if you're eating right and exercising and feeling better. That's the best plan. You don't need to eat more if you're over 1200. It takes a long time and a lot of patience. I know, I'm right there with ya! I can't weigh. It discourages me. Figure on weighing once a week or even twice a month. You'll be a lot saner. If you feel under-fueled and super hungry try a little more food on those day. You'll get there!

Thanks!!! I think I may be under calories .... I usually end up eating 900- 1100.... I dont feel hungry all day but as the eve comes closer I just want to EAT!! its horrible.... Ive just started my diet/insanity on the 1st so I guess it could be muscle .... I really need to get a good idea of what to eat - how many calories a day so then I wont feel to bad if I gain .... Its so hard not to check the scale .... everytime I wake up at night the 1st thought is to check the scale .... lol ok this might be too much info if I poop in the morning I have to check again hoping I lost ... LOL ... im a lil nut job =P
  • I did the 4 Hour Body for 40 days and lost 27lbs. It was not always easy, as I did miss fruit, but giving up dairy was EASY. Almond Milk is so much better!

Giving up wheat/gluten was tough at first, but after the first few days it didn't bother me.

I am about to get back in it again in (Aug 1st) to try and lose the last 20lbs I need to lose.

It works. My Dad went from 275lbs to 228lbs in the same 40 days.

Believe me, I was skeptical at first, but I can send before and after photos to back up my claim.
