Spartan Race?

Has anyone here ever done a Spartan Race? I just did the MS Society's Muck Ruckus (Mud Run) and am considering a Spartan Race in a few months and was looking to see if I could find out how they compare.

Any input would be appreciated. :)

I did a Spartan Race last year and I have another one coming up. A lot of the people I run with have done Mud Runs and the Warrior Dash in addition to doing the Spartan and according to them, the Spartan is a lot more challenging. When I did my first one, I had JUST finished losing most of my weight but hadn't really been doing any training. I found a couple of the obstacles really pushed me to the limits, out of 15 obstacles, there were 2 that I needed help from others (a boost over a wall) and 4 that I could not do at all. When you cannot complete an obstacle you have to do 30 burpees, which I hate and can barely do. The one I ran was in PA at a Ski resort and the trail was 2.5 miles up the side of mountain and then 2.4 back down with 15 obstacles, my group and I all agreed that the terrain and the mountain were the biggest obstacles of all. I finished in 2hrs and 53 minutes, not the fastest by far but not the slowest either and what was most important to me was that I finished. It allowed me to see how far I have come on this journeybecause 70lbs ago I would never have been able to finish. But, it also let me set goals for where I still want to be which is stronger and more fit, not just skinnier. So I have been training now and next month I hope to shave some time off when I run it again. It was a GREAT experience and I highly recommend running one, even once, just to show yourself you can do it. Good luck if you decide to do it!
