i based mine on my goal, which is to build muscle and lose fat. So my macro goals are 30/30/40 carb/fat/protein. I don't pay attention to sugar and sodium.

    fat 30%
    protein 30%
    Sodium 2,500
    carbs 40%
    sugar - don't track

I came up with this after I got a baseline of what I was previously eating. I was high on carbs and low on protein, so this seemed like a good middle-ground to get things in alignment.

This really depends on your goals.

When I'm really bulking to build muscle, I go 40-40-20 (Carbs/Protein/Fat).

Right now I'm doing more of a "cut" at about of a 30-40-30 (Carbs/Protein/Fat) though many days it's usually more like 25-50-25.

USDA regulations say roughly: 55-15-30 (Carbs/Protein/Fat)

I think you have to play around with things to see how you feel. Healthy fats are not bad, remember that! Eating healthy fats will speed weight loss results.

I would be interested in seeing some opinions on this too. Right now I just have what MFP put my food goals at, but I keep hearing the protein they suggest is low, so I'm wondering if I should change the goals myself.

I haven't been keeping track, but am throwing around the idea of it...
