These past few weeks have been tough on me, mainly because of final exams. Since May 14th, I have gained 7 pounds. Both today and yesterday weren't so fun for me either.. with yesterday totaling 3,500 and today 3,000. My question is, is it too late for me? I mean if I start again with a fresh start tomorrow can I still reach my goal? I was doing SO well and then the stress just.. it just hit me! Thoughts, opinions, advice?

It's NEVER too late!!! This is a learning process and we will have gains. Try to figure out what makes you eat... boredom, stress, anxiety, depression... You need to deal with those! I'm an emotional binge eater... I know that I'm going to eat when something triggers it, so I have a few bags of raw veggies and fruits in my fridge I grab to eat instead of potato chips or fast food. It does get easier! I promise! Never feel like you're a failure. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! You may have to bump your goal date up a bit, but you will reach it!!

I'm new to this, but it would seem like it is never too late! This is all a learning process . . . you've now learned that stress leads to too many calories, so now you can start looking into ways to handle it better. I learned that I make bad choices when I'm tired or have a headache, so I'm working on developing techniques to cope better. I also had a over 3000 calorie day last week, got back to it the next day, including going VERY slightly under my calories for a couple of days to try and compensate for the really bad day, and I'm down 3 pounds since then :-)

It's not anywhere close to the same degree as fighting cancer, but I no of someone who started promoting 'NEGU" for 'never ever give up while they were fighting cancer . . . it's a good code to live by!

Your profile doesn't say anything about you or your goals. What were you hoping for in terms of replies exactly?

Well my first goal is 140 pounds, currently 157 now (really mad at myself for messing up this close to finish line, ugh!) and 5 feet 5. Sorry don't know my stats in metric!

Thank you all so much! I don't mind bumping my goal date back a bit at all, just a bit worried because I have a vacation literally coming up next Friday to Puerto Rico :/ and I know I'll probably gain some more weight then so I'm just a bit discouraged.

Well since you don't have much to lose, you should set your goal to 1/2 lbs per week. As you approach your goal, you need to eat more (sounds counterproductive doesn't it). Additionally, if you exercise, aim to eat 50% of those exercise calories back. And if you do exercise, hopefully you do some heavy weight training as that is where you will see the greatest fat loss.

I don't think you're going to find anyone on this site that thinks "Oh well, gained a couple of pounds, guess I'll be fat forever!"
