BMR vs. TDEE

Can someone please explain exactly what these are and how they apply to my caloric intake?

Also, some people are saying that they up their calories to eat more, but others keep their calories at 1200 and do not even eat back what they lost in exercise.

How do I know what I should do?

The more I read on this issue, the more I am convinced it depends on the individual. I have lost 23 pounds following the 1200 calorie diet and eating back some or all of my exercise calories. I exercised around 6 times per week. Most people would say I did not eat enough but I lost every week consistently since Feb and have reached my goal. I just switched to maintanence and will see what impact that has on my overall weight as the MFP calorie amount is not nearly as high as my TDEE of almost 2100. My BMR is 1310.

Please use the Search Feature. There is a TON of posts on this.

EDIT: But allow me to make this one simple...The above was to get you to use before adding more posts without looking.

BMR - What your body needs daily without exercise.
TDEE - BMR + Exercise Caloric Burn.

You dont HAVE to exercise to lose weight. But with exercise, both cardio and lifting, you will burn better, and be able to eat more! YUM! To lose weight healthy, put your settings at 1-2 pounds per week aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand go.
