What did you do BEFORE Insanity?

My husband bought the Insanity videos recently and he's been waiting for me to start it so we could do it together. He only needs to lose about 20 lbs, but he wants to tone and "bulk" eventually.

I, however, have gained nearly 70 lbs in the last 3 years and just started losing weight about 3 weeks ago and I don't feel like I am in good enough shape to start Insanity right now.

I need to do something FIRST so that I won't get overwhelmed and give up on Insanity. Suggestions?

We're starting the C25K challenge together on Monday, but I wasn't sure if that would be good enough.

Is everyone else just super awesome and jumped right into it then? LOL
  • I think most people were still at work when you posted. :ohwell:

I found an easy way to start exercising was with a series of Belly Dance Fitness videos. They aren't easy when you start if you haven't done anything in a while but they aren't super hard either... more focus on isolating muscle groups and doing things like hip drops / lifts and crescent moons with hip circles ( I found them fun) and there is usually some regular floor exercises mixed in. I like the Veena and Neena videos ... they're twins and fun to watch and move with but I'd never let anyone watch me doing these exercises. Oh and they're soooo funny too some of the things they say about feeling the movement come from a sexy sensual place. Made me laugh out loud the first time I heard them .. I couldn't do the exercise because I was laughing.

But... it is very low intensity cardio more muscle group isolation.

I'm currently on a Tae Bo with Billy Balnks kick as I haven't pulled out the videos in years until recently and now it's kicking my but and I feel like I'm drowning in sweat by the end ... so just what I'm looking for when I need to feel like I earned my italian ice cup at the end of the day :)

I'm feeling the same. I haven't worked out much EVER so I'm afraid to dive right into Insanity. I heard Turbo Jam is a good begginers workout... I might give that a try.
