So recently I have fallen in love with baking, not because of the food but because it makes my family and friends happy. I havent been baking lately because I'm getting serious about shedding weight. I just joined so my profile isnt the whole shabang and I'm not actually 25 but off topic! Its summer and i dont have much to do so I keep thinking about baking but i know i cant trust myself and I'll end up eating it all! Any suggestions to take my mind off it or control myself if I do end up baking?!

I'm a baker too! I think it depends on what you bake, really. If you're a quickbread baker (muffins, cakes, chemically risen breads) then you should switch to yeast baking. If you're a yeast baker, switch to whole grain and wild yeasted breads.

Or, I guess if you make quickbreads you can focus on making them lower calorie like a lot do around here.

I'm a yeast baker, so I usually just freeze my loaves. It means I have to wait a while for my bread to defrost to eat it, so I get a chance to talk myself out of it. I still like making fresh english muffins or pita and naan, but that's okay because they're easy enough to fit into my macros.

If I make something like cinnamon rolls, I'll leave one out to split between me and my husband, one for my mom, and then freeze the rest or send them to work with my husband.

    Look in the recipe forum.

There is a yummy low cal banana muffin recipe in there and 40 cal brownie one.

    Yum!

Only leave a few out and pop the rest in the freezer so they can't be eaten straight away

I'm a newbie baker but i like doing it. I find that when/if i do bake, I cut it in half take one half to work to share and then the other half for my boo and I where he eats most of it.

Also, cake mix + can of pumpkin + 2/3 c water = low cal cake with some extra fiber/nutrients from the pumpkin

I bake every week and I keep one or two cupcakes for me and I give away the rest to family.
