I have a really bad headache today and have heard that running or exercise in general can help with pain management. I am on high blood pressure medicine and feel funny sometimes when I take aspirin. Will running for about 20 minutes help with my headache, or make it worse. I am asking because I know there are a lot of runners on here. Any thoughts?!?!?

Sometimes it can help to relieve the stress and/or get your blood flowing again. You could try it, but if it makes it worse, stop.

    Yoga might help too.

I usually take Advil when I have one so I'm not sure that I'm a good one to ask for help.
  • I had a really bad hangover one day (college student so it happens every once in awhile but unlike most I dont make a habit of it) and I went to the gym anyways and I felt good while I was working out but about an hour after I felt worse.

My understanding is that when you exercise, it gets the blood flowing, and when you have a headache, there is tension which is causing the headache in your head. Exercising usually makes the headache worse because even though the blood is flowing faster, the tension is still there and then the blood is trying to force its way through. It becomes a pounding headache. I say, take something for the headache and then when you are sure its gone, go running. Also, if you are not drinking enough water, you can get a headache.
