I am so not a "vegas" person, but my husband is interested in going, and I come from a big family full of "vegas lovers". They all tell me you can go see shows, walk around a lot, visit the sites, and sit by the pool- apparently this is enough to warrant all the other stuff for us "non-vegas types".

Vega offers lots of crazy places to walk and look! It takes a long time to walk through the hotels all the way down the strip! There are lots of places to eat good food. And just out of the city is lots of room to wander around.
Hope you have a great time!!!!

Thankfully for Vegas, there are people like me who love to gamble, take in shows, eat great food and have a few cocktails. There are also great spas, fantastic shopping and laying by the pool, which I also love.

A lot of the Hotel/Casinos offer things like Carnival rides or Roller coasters. Also, you can hike in some areas on the outskirts of Vegas. It is a desert so make sure you have a lot of water on hand (regardless if you stay in town or not). There are also some museum like places in the casinos ( I went through one that made you feel like Alice in Wonderland). See if there's anything going on at UNLV (although Nevada (,Reno) is the better school...)

We are definitely going to take the Dam tour and I heard something about a mini cooper stunt driving school. Great suggestions! Keep them coming!

Mandalay Bay has a cool aquarium tour, and there is always the Grand Canyon and the Damn tours. Plenty of other activities outside of town, google your interests and add Nevada or Vegas to narrow your results. Have fun!

I am also not a gambler, but I do love shows. However, depending on what you're into the suggestions I have are:

BB Kings Blues restaurant for great food (not a buffet) and great live music. Usually someone is handing out coupons for free cover and a free drink or appetizer there.

Mandelay Bay has a nice aquarium that has a huge shark room. Only takes about 45 to 60 minutes to walk through or longer if you love getting awesome pictures.

There is a frisbee golf course not too far from the strip (if you like disc golf)

There are red rock canyon tours that you can take with a guide or on your own.

Circus Circus - Never been but I know there is an adventure dome that is essentially a huge amusement park

Coca-Cola and M&M store if you are a huge fan or a collector of either one of those companies

    Madam Tousseau's wax museum

If you pick up one of the maps of the strip or from the hotels, you'll also be able to see all of the individual things each hotel offers. As always, there are also spas and pools pretty much everywhere.

    Have fun!

You mean there's stuff to do in Vegas besides hookers, blow, gambling, and drinking until you puke? Who knew. But, I that case, just stay home. Lol.

I went last year with my then 10 year old son. We went to Fremont St, Hoover Dam, and walked around the strip. We saw the sharks at Mandalay Bay, we saw the fountains, we went to Caesars Palace and he posed with a satchel there too. We saw the Blue Man Group perform. We had a blast. I had not a drop to drink (over two years sober). We're planning on going next year.

First, I love Vegas. I love everything about it. I think you'll either love it or hate it, there's no real in-between.

I was a blackjack dealer for years, so it's just not that much fun for me to gamble. I usually pop a few bucks into some quarter slots, because, you know, it's Vegas.

But there are many shows that are not showgirls and strippers. Although, I think those shows are awesome, too.

Cirque du Soleil has a big presence in Vegas, and you really should go to one big show in a showroom while you are there. I liked "O" at the Bellagio, and I hear the Beatles one "Love" at the Mirage is good. I loved loved loved "KA" at MGM. But there are several Cirque du Soleil productions.

I agree with the post above that said "Phantom of the Opera" at the Venetian is excellent. Really good. I had never seen any other production of it, so it was awesome to me.

There are lots of comedians playing all the time. Call one of the big hotel Concierges and ask for a list of shows the week you will be there.

Pick at least one, plan on getting the best seats available - because how often do you get to do something like that? Buy your tickets ahead of time directly from the Concierge by phone or the ticket box office, don't do it online.

And, really, there is world class dining in Vegas. Plan a little gluttony. If you only do one buffet, hit the buffet at the Wynn. It's incredible. But don't expect $1.99 food anywhere. That was in the 60s.

You will be doing so much walking, you will not gain weight - no matter how much you eat.
