LOL, thanks for posting this because I meant to pack a small bag of nuts for my husband to take to work tomorrow and I just spent two minutes standing in my kitchen thinking, "What was it I needed to do?"

Edited to add: Fat from nuts is healthy. Enjoy them :)

Agreed! Before MFP I was eating handfuls of peanuts and thought nothing of it. Now I weigh 15gram (1/2 ounce) servings and make that do.

The fats in nuts are very healthy. Nuts are a great snack just be careful to measure them to get an accurate calorie count. 100 calories of nuts has way more nutritional value and will leave you feeling hunger free longer than any of those 100 calorie snack packs you can buy in the cookie/cracker aisles!

I have to stick to very small bags as I found when I was buying the 100g or 150g bags of seeds or nuts, I would get through the whole lot some evenings. I love nuts and seeds and dried fruit in general. But you can end up eating more calories than a bar of chocolate easily.
  • peanut butter in my protein shake is sooo good!!!
  • eat pistachios!

I've learned to stay away from peanuts; they are highly allergenic to many people (me included). Almonds are my nut of choice! Raw or in almond butter. I also understand that almonds are also processed "cleaner", with less contaminants than peanuts. I also avoid dairy and soy products as much as possible. Here's a pretty good article on the differences between peanut and almond butter.

Told my doctor that I'm craving nuts. He said "nuts are good for you" so just be conscious of portions and enjoy them!

I think they are a great snack, and the fat doesn't worry me.
I have got used to counting out my almonds now - 10 or 12 is plenty for a snack.

I am actually supposed to eat a serving a day due to the healthy fats. Just watch your serving size and count the calories.
