pedometers or heart rate monitors?

Hi all!
I've been exercising for a little over 4 months now and when I log my exercise here I cant be sure exactly how many calories I've burned from my work outs, so I'm kinda just guessing and using information others have said (i.e.- I use the 30 day shred dvd and I had asked how many calories people had burned doing it, and was provided an answer so thats what I use when I log it on here. but everyone is different so I may be burning more or less). I want to buy some kind of tracker to let me know how many I am burning so I make sure I'm burning enough in the day to lose weight. Which is better for me to use for that purpose? Your help is greatly appreciated! :flowerforyou:

I have the polar 4 heart rate monitor and love it, it is accurate on calories burned and also heart rate0

Check out the GoWearFit if you're interested in tracking calories burned. It does so much mroe than pedometers or HRM's. I'd so recommend it... I bought one recently and I love it!

I have a Polar F11 but it hasn't worked properly for a few months. I would suggest the GoWearFit also. That's what I'm saving for. I don't hear of any of the problems that I've had with the Polar. My problems are the heart rate goes to zero for no reason. Good luck!0

I would like to know too:flowerforyou: It would be a great Christmas Gift for my husband to give me. But...it would be nice to have now:noway:0 -
gowearfit sounds great but man i dont have that kind of money! lol and i want something now.... maybe i'll buy the polar just so i have something now and in a few months maybe i can get the gowearfit. we'll see. so i'm assuming then that a heart rate monitor would be better then a pedometer?0

Yeah - for tracking calories burned while exercising a HRM is better than a pedometer because not all exercise involves steps (such a cycling, weight lifting, Yoga, etc.) - a HRM would be more accurate in those kind of situations.
Edited to add: BTW, you can buy the GoWearFit for a little cheaper off Amazon.com than the company's website ($179 for the basic device) and it comes with 3 months free subscription.0
