NSV - Mudslide mud run!

A local ski resort (Holiday Valley) hosted it's first annual Mudslide mud run this past Saturday, and wow was it a blast! They split it into two races, a 3.5 mile downhill and a 5.4 mile with a significant uphill portion. I wound up signing up for the 5.4 mile even though the longest consecutive run I have ever done was 4 miles, on flat ground.

The course itself was awesome! You took a chair lift up to the top of one of the hills to a gorgeous lake. The race started with a lap around the lake, and then into the woods and through the mountain bike paths. The scenery was so beautiful that I sometimes forgot I was running in a soon to be grueling race!

There were 8 obstacles total. Nothing too drastic, just fun. The uphill portion was horrendous! I forgot I had legs for about 30 minutes of it because they went numb. After that torture, there was the final slide set up into a giant mud pit. I will definitely be doing this again next year.
