I actually gain weight from eating fruits. For me they are the enemy. My stomach can't handle to much fructose. I get bloated and constipated for days. Veggies are a lot better.

Anything that tells you not to eat fruits is horsesh!t. Plateaus are caused by many things, but fruit isnt it.

Oh my, he didn't say avoid fruit.

    Watch what kind you buy!

Buy fresh or frozen, dried & processed is what he's saying.

And for the person who said berries spoil quickly - well freeze it!

Especially cooling in the summer to eat frozen fruit.

    Thanks for the article.

Well he did spend the first 3 paragraphs inferring that, then rode back on the claims in the next para. Finally he finished off his message with some credentials so that we should all take on board the validity of his statement without further question.
    So fair game really.

I make a green smoothie every morning with fruit in it and I would DIE without it. I almost feel like it is an addiction because I get such a rush of energy from them. The best time to eat fruit is in the morning or right before cardio. It will give you the perfect type of energy and your body will thank you. Thus it will not be stored into fat since you are using the energy up. Do not be scared of fruit it is nature's perfect food because it supplies your body with an insane amount of nutrients and antioxidants that you can't get anywhere else.
Im with you. I love fruit and always eat it 1st thing in the morning before anything else. That way your body and skin takes advantage of all the nutrients and antioxidants. You will get beatiful skin by doing this and your digestive system will work better. As I always say "Nothing in excess, everything in moderation"!

Worrying about small-scale crap like this is a futile and often dangerous endeavor for the majority.

If you're eating in a calorie deficit, doing some training, and consuming appropriate macronutrients, fat oxidation will exceed fat storage, period.

In short, trying to micromanage the acute processes that happen after you eat that white rice or piece of toast or *GASP* A BANANA, is just plain mental *kitten* for lack of a better way to put it.

Long term balance of fat oxidation and fat storage will determine whether or not you gain or lose fat over time and this is all that matters. Focus on your total intake, get off your *kitten*, and WIN.

    Lastly:

Lastly #2: Eat your fruit. It's good for you.

    i'm with you.
I never seen anyone get fat who just ate fruit or who ate a lot of fruit. I bet if you only ate fruit for a month you'd loose more weight than your average diet, low fat healthy and eating plans

While I love all the advice and really good information on here, I sometimes feel like posts such as these lead to more frustration than they are worth. The thing is, the average Joe/Julie on here trying to make a difference, improve their lives, lose weight etc is likely not in those situations because they ate too much fruit. I'm I'm sitting here eating a medium size organic fuji apple instead of a candy bar/high sugar granola bar/bag of cheetos etc....than I'm doing a good thing.

People need to remember that turning all of this into a constant "do this not that" job with every single bit of food we try to eat....will ultimately make it extremely hard to fit into a daily routine. Again, the information is awesome, and I do appreciate every bit of it! I just think people need to take all of it and adapt it as they can without getting so stuck on details that the only thing they can eat is protein shake and quinoa.

I'm pretty sure it's the french fries, not the strawberries.

The ridiculousness is almost too much to grasp. Fruits are natural sugars. Eaten in moderation they are incredibly healthy. Of course, I'm not saying anything that hasn't already been said...but I had to add the opinion that you have no idea what you're talking about.

These types of myths are perpetrated by people who make their money off the 'dieting' industry. The industry itself is a complete fabrication. There is no secret to weight loss.

My advice: Stick to wild berries such as blue berries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, etc. They are all eaten with the skin on and are generally low in sugar. They are also loaded with anti-oxidants and vitamins. Cut back on fruit and see what happens!

You are so right, I checked with my doctor and pharmacist since being diagnose with diabetes and that is what they suggested. Blueberries, Strawberries, Blackberries, and Kiwi. Grapes, oh my not good, But for me I have to watch the fruit. Those are the only fruit I eat now. I my have an apple every now and then. My pharmacist said that people tell her what they are eating, and when they say grapes, that would be the reason, full of sugar.

The list of foods that would kill you in a second...completely natural, growing from the ground/on a tree foods is about as long as my arm.

Lesson - Just because it occurs in nature doesn't mean it's healthy. Just because it's processed doesn't make it bad for you.

If you don't believe me see if you prefer Nightshade to Oreo's.

I agree with the OP 100%. I know it's what's holding me back. It's so hard to do cardio while you're holding your fruit.

In my humble uneducated opinion, the concentration or density of sugars and calories is more of a concern.
Fresh fruit is infinately better for you than dried, and lower carb is better.

As with anything, all thinks do not work for all people. We know how our bodies work, so you are grown people. You have to get the meat of a situation and spit out the bones. There is so much advice given on the site. Take from it what helps you. They are just stating what is helpling them. We come here for motivation and support and when someone gives a litlte, that person is jumped. I work in healthcare with nutritionist and is see and know the food pyrimid often. But it is up to us to use it. It says 5 fruits OR veggie daily. Either or people. It depends on your health and what fruit you like. I like bannans but I cant, but there are other fruits out there. There are warning for everything we do. So take what you need from the post.
