Super Easy Gooey Pepperoni Calzone (350 cals!)
Calzones are one of my absolute favorite "bad" foods. Naturally, I didn't take a picture of this because I ate it too fast
1/2 cup Fat Free Ricotta
1/2 cup Fat Free Mozzarella
6 slices turkey pepperoni, sliced in half
2 cloves garlic, crushed
Handful of basil leaves, chopped
1 low carb pita pocket
PH oven to 350.
Put ricotta, mozzarella, pepperoni halves, garlic and basil into a bowl and stir thoroughly until everything is evenly dispersed.
Open the pita pocket and stuff the cheese mixture inside. Bake on a baking sheet for around 15-20 minutes. I brushed the top of mine with a little light butter in the last few minutes of baking but found it was unnecessary and just added calories, but not much flavor.
This was so yummy! You can dip in light marinara if you want, as well. Tasted very similar to the real thing

I am curious how you bake this w/the top of the pita open? How do you prevent everything from "oozing" out while baking?0

bump! LOVE calzones....and pizza things.... :P0

stick it with a toothpick? seems like it'd work...the melting cheese may help the pocket stick together with a little help
edit: meant to quote the "how do you keep it from spilling out the sides...." comment0 -
My daughter has decided to join me in my weight loss efforts. She will love this recipe! Thanks for sharing.0

Fat free cheese doesn't ooze around all that much...haha! I just opened it carefully and everything stayed in place Weaving it with toothpick like someone said would help if you were worried0 -
