I am getting so discouraged with the fact that I am changing stuff around and making healthier choices like fruit instead of chocolate and stuff like that and I keep going over on my calories and everything else.

    What is your calorie goal?

You are improving your choices. Keep doing so a little at a time, and it will all work out.

Be proud of yourself for making the better choices and moving forward.

We all get down - KEEP PUNCHING!
Sometimes our change is a slow work in progress.
Make sure your settings are reasonable - 1 lb per week - or even a half pound
Don't try to bite off too much. You can do this!:flowerforyou:
  • Thank you everyone and my calorie goal was for one pound loss a week at 1500 and I just changed it to 1/2 pound cause I hate seeing myself go over and if I don't eat dinner I don't go over but if I do measured out and everything I always do.

Over by how much? Try adding more vegetables, they fill you up much quicker, suppress the appetite, and have the greatest concentration of micronutrients.

Looks like you lost 5 lbs in your first 4 weeks - that's a great start! I was steadily losing every week & then stalled for a couple weeks but then started losing again. I think sometimes our body takes time to "re-adjust." Keep examining your food/exercise logs and see where you should or can make changes - just don't quit! You will start losing again as long as you do not let discouragement lead you into giving up :)
  • normally anywhere from 10-100 calories

Honestly, 10-100 calories isn't THAT big of a deal to go over by if that includes everything you consume in your day. MFP had/has you set to lose 1 lb per week, and if you go over just a bit, you're still in a calorie deficit, so I'd say you're okay.

Now, if you start going over by A LOT every day, then it's time to re-evaluate your goals for sure, or just up your work out time to make up for the difference.

    Good luck!

Going over by 10 - 100 calories is likely not a big deal! Keep up the good work!

If you're only going over 10-100 calories, you can fix that by getting out for a brisk walk! It's very possible to burn 100 calories/10 minutes! So, a 30 min walk will burn 300 calories. Or go up and down stairs for 15 min, or jump rope for just 10! You'll be surprised by how fast you can burn calories with an extra physical effort. And the calorie counter just takes it right off! Plus, you'll feel better!

Have you been exercising too? That will add calories that you are allowed. You want to leave cheese on your sandwich? Go for a 30 minute walk etc.
  • I found that when I started eating a lot more protein, it was much easier to stay within my calories because I have so much less appetite and stay full longer. Now sometimes it is actually hard for me to avoid eating too little because my appetite has dwindled. And that is amazing for me, I have always be a voracious eater. I would recommend maybe giving that a try. (More specifically, I have been doing 40% carb, 30% fat, 30% protein macro ratio, which happens to be much more protein than I used to eat.)

Why? You've only been on here for a couple of months. You now ho to eat, it's time to CHOOSE and ACT upon how much you eat and when
  • If you're only going over 10-100 calories, then I wouldn't worry about it! Just exercise a little more, it's really easy to burn 100 calories. Go walking, do On Demand cardio exercises, or my favorite- play wii boxing. All these things only take about 20 minutes to half an hour to burn 100 calories. So don't worry :) everyone gets discouraged sometimes, you just have to pick yourself up and keep going. Trust me, you'll be happy you did ^_^
