My husband and I are going on our little summer vacation out of town that we do every year. its a tradition. probably going in august. it will be for about 3 days. my question is, if i don't log my food for 3 days, and pretty much eat whatever i want, how much damage can i really do. will i gain back every thing i've lost. ? just wondering how much weight is possible to gain back in 2-3 days of junk food eating? I've lost 18 pounds so far. i'm going on vacation, so i want to eat and enjoy it.

i've cheated for a week before without any weight gain. just don't overdo it, and be sure to exercise.0

You will gain water weight and very little fat. Within a week of being back and getting back on your diet you will lose whatever "gain" you got on vacation.
This is a marathon, not a sprint, enjoy your vacation.0 -
2-3 pound gain would be normal for some people though probably.0

You'll be fine. You would have to eat maintenance every day plus another 3500 calories just to gain one pound. Enjoy yourself and continue losing when you get back.0

eat what you want just don't go nuts! You could gain quite a few pounds in that time just be careful not to throw away what you have been working so hard on..do things that take some acitivity too just to counter act what you'll be munching on. Don't make it about food, make it about having time to enjoy yourselves. .Have a nice vacation!!!0

Usual for me when I visit my mother for 2-3 days is around 3 Ibs, and that is with meals out, desserts and goodness knows what else. It generally comes off within 4-5 days of returning to my routine.0

I usually go nuts on vacation, and go for 7-10 days.....I've never gained more than two pounds. It's lost again in a week.
Enjoy. Don't stress over this.0 -
Agree, you shouldn't stress yourself about it and just enjoy your vacation.
Remember you are changing your lifestyle and it's a long term thing. There will be vacations, weddings, nights out, special occasions etc etc etc.
Make better choices but don't let it rule your life - otherwise it's harder to maintain your lifestyle change0 -
I have been away a few times over my journey, yes I have gained weight, but it always comes off within a week. Once I gained and still had a loss at weigh in for that week because I got home and quickly changed my habits. Your body sometimes is so shocked at what you are doing, it revs itself up and works harder.
Remember this is life, you need to live it, so be sensible and ENJOY!!0 -

Agree 100%0 -
For the most part, whatever you gain will be water weight, not true fat. Even if you eat 1000 calories over your maintenance on each of those three days, which would probably be close to 3000 calories total each day, that's still not enough to gain even one pound of fat.
Just don't let a temporary fluctuation on the scale get you down and derailed.0
