At the moment my acne is terrible, i admit i have not been eating too healthily but am struggling with what to eat on a daily basis. I can't seem to stop binging and if i do okay one day the next day it gets worse again. I'm still living at home and am a uni student so only eat what the family buys however we don't have a lot of veges and they constantly buy cookies and chips for my brother as snacks (as well as some healthy food) despite me telling them i'm trying to eat healthier. I've been using acne cleansers for my skin but it doesn't seem to be working and i'd buy my own food except i don't have enough money to pay for it, plus even when i buy hommus or fruit the rest of the family end up eating majority of it while i'm out.
I need a recipe planner to stick to however with the ones in magazines we don't usually have that stuff at home and i'm not in charge of cooking dinner (apart from once a week). It makes it hard for me to choose healthy options and i feel stuck for choice. Does anyone else have the same problem? How do you plan ahead and make sure not to overeat or binge on junk?

Hang in there:) Try the cook book, Body For Life (make sure it is the cookbook, not the regular chapter book). The recipes are easy,simple, and delicious...it changed my life.0

Hello Ally Clare,
It is tough when you are not in doing the shopping and cooking. Can you go shopping with the grocery shopper and add some helpful hints while shopping? Explain to you family that you are trying to eat heathier and you need their help. they will, They love you . Also, I noticed you do not log your food for the day. It really does help.0 -
Thankyou for the suggestions, i think i just need the motivation. Today i went for a walk and ate (so far) quite healthily. Thanks KellyJean i will have to start logging again to see where i'm going wrong0

For your skin, two things have worked well for me (I had terrible skin as a teen, which has thankfully gotten much better with age). One, drink lots of water, and minimal or no soda. Two, gentle cleansing and moisturizing. Cetaphil is good and not too expensive. Once I figured out I am sensitive to anything that ends in -cone (such as dimethicone) my skin got much happier!0 -

I second the Cetaphil suggestion.
My family has a history of really bad acne, so when I hit puberty I began cleansing my face twice a day (once in morning, once at night) with a gentle cleanser.
Then, when I hit college, my stage make-up professor gave us a great ritual: wash the face with a gentle cleanser; with a cotton ball or pad, use an astringent like witch hazel, to remove any residual dirt/make-up/cleanser; then moisturize the skin with a hypo-allergenic lotion. For those who wear heavy make-up, it's suggested to remove it with a cold cream/make-up remover before washing with cleanser.
Some moisturizers I've liked over the years are Oil of Olay, Aveeno, and Biore. The most important thing in a good moisturizer is that it is oil free.
Give it a try for a few weeks, if it doesn't improve with proper care and nutrition, you might need to see a dermatologist.

What are you drinking? I cleaned up my diet but it didn't clear my skin, it wasn't until I stopped the sodas and crystal light and just drank water that my face finally cleared up. That might be the easiest to start off with since you are on a budget.0

I agree, you could stash fruit, or other foods that won't go bad in your room. Maybe label portions of foods for yourself in the kitchen and leave enough left over for others to eat.
Besides the food problem, try using the oil cleansing method for washing your face (you can search for it at crunchybetty.com).
Or use unpasteurized honey. As raw as you can get it., usually farmers markets will have a honey stand. Honey is naturally antibacterial, moisturizing, and a host of other awesome skin benefits. Half a teaspoon is enough per wash, so it lasts forever. (Also at crunchybetty.com)0
