That article was written in 2005. It's 4.5 years later and Splenda is still on the market because no well-designed clinical studies support taking it off the market.
It's just scaremongering.0 -
Over 100 studies showed no signs of carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicology, neurotoxicology, or genetic toxicology as a result of sucralose administration over all clinical study parameters. The only signs that sucralose can cause problems occured when amounts much much higher than normal daily amounts a human would consume were administered to test animals.

You could make the same comment about Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal,...) still being on the market in North America, but Aspartame is banned in Europe for children's products. In the mean time, the big beverage makers are moving to something new.
Sweeteners made from Stevia.

Anyway, IMO Dr. Mercola is a flake who engages in a lot of psuedo-science to support his often outrageous claims.0 -
