Ok, so I just found out my friends are throwing me a birthday party on July 7th for my 30th birthday!

(YAY!)

However, they asked me to provide them a list of snacks they should provide....we're not doing full on dinner, just appetizer type stuff.

The party is out of town for me, otherwise I'd spend time in the kitchen, making lasagna muffins, etc... Easy recipes would be great! Those lasagna muffins are awesome but time consuming.

So...........what are some ideas?

veggie sticks and low fat ranch
pita chips with hummus
baked chicken wings

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Thanks!

I absolutely love celery and salsa or cucumbers and hummus
Try having extra veggies on hand so you can use those to dip instead of chips
Also, there are some really good eggplant dips (baba ganoush is one) that are yummy and don't seem to be too bad

What about spinach dip (you can make this homemade), shrimp cocktail, even fruits and dips?
Low fat cheese platters, just get as creative as you can :)

    Happy 30th :)

High in sodium, but worth every bite!

    Frank’s Buffalo Chicken

    Ingredients:

    4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 bottle of Frank’s Hot Sauce (I used buffalo wing flavor)

1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch dry mix

Put chicken breasts in the bottom of the crock pot. Sprinkle the dry ranch mix on the chicken breasts. Pour the entire bottle of hot sauce over the chicken. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours or low on 6 hours. Shred the chicken up like you would for barbecue. Enjoy every bite!

Frank's Hot Sauce has 5 calories for 2TBS and the Ranch Seasoning is 80 calories for a small packet. The only thing you would need to calculate is your chicken. Very low calorie count!

You could make Pita's and add some lettuce and blue cheese sprinkles or even make a Buffalo chciken pizzza. I love to just eat it by itself.

    Pumpernickel and spinach dip!

You could make little sandwich and cut them in bite size pieces.

    I'll keep thinking!

Onion Rings! Cut onions into rings, dip in egg, cover in finely crushed Fiber One cereal, and bake! :) You can do the same with zucchini and it's delicious :)

    Roasted Brussel Sprouts

Orowheat makes Mini sandwich rounds that are 50 cals a "bun" and mini sammies can be made from those.

    Brucshetta (sp?) with fresh ingredients

Do you have a theme? I did a pink party when I turned 30 and found any snack they made in pink.

Costco is an amazing place for snacks.

No theme. It's being hosted by my friends 6 hours away, so we're driving up that morning, helping with the decorations and food, and then the party is at 7.....so that's why not a lot of time. :)

A yogurt parfait table! A few different flavors of yogurt (vanilla and strawberry work well) + lots of fun mix-ins like nuts, raisins, berries, cookie crumbles, etc. Grab some cute clear cups or glasses and have make-your-own parfait time
