Exercise at home

Right now I'm just using my wii fit/biggest loser wii and the floor to do a work out. Which usually is just situps, since I can't for the life of me do a pushup. I really want to do some more high burning exercises but I can't buy anything as I have no money. I don't enjoy going running as I find it embarrasing, I often walk the dog but sometimes it's just too darn cold. Has anyone got any exercise tips that I can do at home? I mean I have a skipping rope and could do that too however anything else I could do? I want something that burns a lot in a shorter space of time, not crazy but yes a bit more. Usually doing an hour of wii fit etc I burn 100-150 and my calorie goal per day us 1200 but I just want a bit more oomph in my day xD If you understand me.

Thanks

Do you have a smart phone? Lots of good apps with exercise programs on them. You might also check your local library for workout DVDs - I've checked out quite a few good ones from mine. Or look for online programs - lots of freebies there too - I see people here mention BodyRockTV (I think? Someone correct me!) a lot, and it's a free one I believe.
  • No, I found this website/app on my iPod touch though so maybe I should look into that. Shame, recently, all the local libraries have been closing down. I also have zumba for wii but I can't get the hang of that. I've never heard of that

I do all my exercises at home. There are some workouts online that I started with. Some of them I have stuck with, some not. www.fox4kc.com has some listed and are in a video, so you can see how they are done. Some are with an exercise ball, that I have purchased, but honestly, I dont use it much anymore. When you go to the site, type in "fitness tuesday" in the search and it will bring up several you can try.

You can also try www.shape.com/fitness. They have some there as well.

I jog in place and I record on my dvr exercise shows. If you have a dvr, search for bollyfit, faithful workouts, total body workouts or just search for fitness, exercise or workout to see what comes up. I have several that I have recorded and protected so they wont be deleted. I do bollyfit and faithful workout, mixed with my belly dancing dvd I purchased. faithful workout has the bible theme, but a workout is a workout, whether you are christian or not.

I hope this helps you some

Skipping is fantastic for burning the calories, definitely one to pursue if you've already got the rope.
If you can't do pushups right now, I think starting by pushing yourself up off a wall (starting by just leaning into it) or by doing them on the floor but kneeling down rather than stretched out are things you could try. As it gets easier you can then move towards the traditional form.

My best exercise purchase has been my recumbent exercise bicycle. No excuses for not exercising (bar a broken leg or general illness). Sit back, pedal, read book/watch TV/play on phone, burn fat.
