So for the past 4 months we've been doing Fit Pal in our house, we've banned pasta. A measly 2 oz. is 180 calories! (The lightest we could find). For one cup of cooked pasta, we were clocking in over 700 calories!
What we didn't realize is that 2oz. is in weight, not volume. So this whole time we've been measuring out 2oz as 1/4 cup, not on the scale! As you can imagine, this makes for a teeny-tiny pasta serving!
Silly me.
I hope I'm not wrong about our amazing discovery! If we are, please correct us right away, because I'm going to make more meals with 2oz of whole wheat pasta!
Easy Beef Stroganoff (makes 1 serving)
Rancher's Reserve - Beef Round Top Round Steak Thin, 4 oz (28 g)
Generic - Mushrooms - Button, 50 g
Fage - 0% Nonfat Greek Yogurt, 0.38 cup
Mccormick - Beef Stroganoff Seasoning (Seasoning Only), 3 tbs
Ronzoni - Healthy Harvest All Natural Whole Grain Pasta, 2 oz
total calories = 516

I think you're right. I always weigh the 2-ounce serving of raw, dry pasta on a scale - then cook.0

LOL, you certainly aren't wrong about your discovery--- 1 cup is equal to 8 FLUID ounces so that only applies to liquids! My friend's family was doing Weight Watchers and making the same mistake. It sure does make a difference, doesn't it?0

Every time I measure out 2 0z of pasta when I cook it it ends up being a lot, Same with rice0

You know, I bet this explains the several recipes I have tried that come out just awful. If only I could go back in time and make a decent batch of 100 calorie cupcakes!
