I am a 24 year old female..I am 5'4 and 154lbs. I just started this program 2 weeks ago. In my first weeok I worled out and hit my calorie goal everyday. I was so excited to step on the scale a week later and see I had last 3 lbs! This past weigh in though, I got on the scale and saw I gained 2 lbs! I am so frustrated because I worked out more this week than I did last week! I was also under my calorie goal every day. It is so frustrating! I am wonderi g how I could have gained 2 lbs?! Help!

It could be anything, weight fluxuates between 1-3 pounds per day. Make sure you weigh yourself at the same time everytime you weigh yourself, it does help. It could be water weight, I drink anywhere between 8-14 glasses of water a day, it throws my weight off sometimes.
It takes patience to lose weight, and time. You can do this, don't get discouraged!0 -
First week was probably a lot of water weight you lost. Keep going
2 weeks into your program and you have lost a pound - nice healthy start0 -
Thank you both for your support!0

Water weight most likely. I would recommend you measure yourself as that is a good way of measuring any loss.0

Like everyone has said, it is most likely water weight. You should weigh yourself same day and in the morning before you do anything - except pee :-) Patients is key! You are doing great!0

Keep going!!! i just started last week again after a year and my weight did the same thing the first couple days.
Just remember it takes 3 weeks to start a good habit!!!! You can do this!0 -
We are very similar in stats! I am 23, 5'4" and 146-150 (depending on water weight!). I'm sure your weight gain is the same issue I have. Last week, I weighed 146 on Saturday and 150 on Monday!! I know it is incredibly discouraging so I try to only weight myself once a week to avoid the daily fluctuations from water.
Also, make sure you drink tons of water to keep it flowing and eventually your body will stop holding on to every ounce you drink and it will flush it out instead!
Just don't worry too much about it (even though I know how it feels), just stay focused and healthy and eventually the weight will come over more consistently!
Good luck and feel free to add me as a friend!!0 -
Jeez I gain when I am pmsing...or if I eat too much sodium. It's pretty easy to gain. What is your calorie intake?0

Congratulations on your pound per week!
The scale is a a very tricky little devil! My weight can fluctuate 2 pounds easily in a day (sometimes 5!)
As everyone has mentioned, a lot of the initial weight is rapid water loss. You probably lost two pounds of fat and two of water. As I have a tendancy to retain water I watch my sodium and white flour and drink lots and lots of water. This had really helped.0 -
For about a month now I have gained and lost the same 3 lbs which is extremely frustrating. But then I looked at all the muscle I have in my arms that I never had and I felt a little better. Maybe you should start checking measurments instead of just weight, you might be losing inches. Keep with it because it's a life goal to be healthy and in better shape. Good Luck!0

Ditch the scale!!!! I threw mine out (literally) 8 months ago.....the number was defining me and my progress, if I weighed and put on or didn't lose it set me up for failure....I know how I want to look and how my clothes feel and thats all that matters....or even just weigh once a month, you will be pleasantly surprised....:o)0

Mfp says that I should take in 1200 calories a day0

I try not to weigh the day after a good workout. Not because I "gained muscle" overnight but because of the swelling in my body that I get afterward.0

Doesn't seem much for conjoined twins0 -
I had exactly the same frustration over the weekend. I felt so down that I nearly gave up already!! But, I took my measurements and realised that I had lost 2 inches off my waist and half an inch off my thighs in 2 weeks. Which means my fat percentage has reduced. This is really all that matters.
I am steering clear of the scales from now on and will measure once a week. I think the scales can cause more probs than they're worth. Focus on measurements and how your clothes feel on you. Add me if u like0 -
I totally understand ! Im one of those addicted to the scale gal, and there are 2-3 lb daily swings (sometimes more !) I also found that if I weighed just once a week that I didnt see the days that my weight was down and therefore I would get discouraged so I went back to weighing every day. Turns out I typically see a weight decrease not in 7 days but about every 9 days is when I have consistently seen a decrease in the scale. Also as others have said measurements ! I finally did mine, and its encouraging to see those go down, even if the scales havent caught up yet.
Hang in there ! Youre doing great !0 -
I appreciate all of your input! It is good to have encouragement0

And I agree! I feel hungry a lot. Especially since I am excercising at least 45 minutes every day0
