I checked my net Calories for the last 16 days, and 11 days were 1,200 and less, only 7 days were about 1,400 calories. Am I killing my metabolism, and is this why I have gained my weight back in spite of jogging every other day? I am adding strength training on opposite days, and I have calculated 1600 as a good point to lose .5 per week according to several threads on calculating TDEE accurately. I also know I need to cut my carbs and up my protein.

You can promote metabolism by distributing your meal through out the day. Say you eat 3 times a day right now, you can eat 6 times a day. But you need to cut the portion. Don't finish the food just because it's there.
Also, don't watch tv or read books while you are eating. Your brain will not realize that you are already full. Concentrate on your food.0 -
Eat more throughout the day. If I leave 800 calories for dinner, I'm not hitting my calories without eating junk.0

Your TDEE could be anywhere between 1800 and 2800 calories depending on your activity level. Your BMR is around 1500 calories. If I had to venture a guess, I would say that you should probably eat more calories. I would suggest eating AT LEAST your BMR.0

Thank you for that advice-I believe you are right. I have struggled to reach my goal calories, and I am going to try 6 small meals a day-or 5 at least.0

Nope. You will be fine given your higher bf% (you will be able to handle a steeper calorie deficit better than leaner folks)
The fact that your measurements are moving in the right direction is a good sign. If you are worried about your scale weight plateauing it is probably water retention caused by adding in weights recently (for muscle repair etc).
Personally I think you could simplify your approach somewhat. Try a calorie range of 1,800 - 2,000 per day per day (just eat at that amount without worrying about adding back exercise calories etc) with your current exercise programme and see how you go after 4 weeks.0 -

Personally, I eat six times a day, but I don't expect it to do a thing for my metabolism. I've lost about 97-99 pounds since February of last year and without fail, when I added calories (healthy foods mind you!), the loss started up at a higher rate.
It sounds like you're not eating 1,200 **net** calories. Try that and see how it works.0 -
I really enjoy this website! It is so entertaining, but very informative. I am going to increase my calories to meet my 1600 goal esp more protein, alternate jogging days with either strength training or cardio, and try to spread my eating throughout the day. I wouldn't want to jump in on the debate about whether or not smaller more frequent meals increase metabolism or not, I do know that combining protein with good carbs will even out my blood sugars during the day, which will effect my energy levels.
So many of you have been down this road longer than I, and I really appreciate the advice.0
