Hello everyone  . Just though I should give this app a try. I been using another app but it doesn't seem as complete as MyfitnessPal.

Just like everyone else, i'm using this app as a tool to loose weight. I was recently diagnosed with Diabetes  (runs in the family) and i've made a decision to beat it.

I'm maybe 15% into my goal and have been doing a lot of online research on clean diets and workouts. One thing always keeps coming up, keep track of what you eat. Hopefully MyFitnessPal can help me with this task.

Feel free to add me to your friends list, i'll definitely be active on my updates.

Thanks

Hello and welcome!! I have been a member here since the end of April and I have DEFINITELY found that keeping track of what I eat has helped me a lot. I never counted calories until I found this site, and now I do it religiously, whether I have an off day or not. I hope you will find that it helps you as much as it has helped me. Good luck to you on beating diabetes! With the help of this site and its wonderful members, I know you can do it! :)
  • ^ Thanks! I'm already seeing features that this app has compared to the other one I used before. Glad to see so many positive reviews.

    Welcome.

I've found MFP to be a great tool in taking control of my diabetes since I was diagnosed in Sept. 2011. There are also several good diabetes groups on here if you search the word "diabetes." Lots of helpful info from some good people.

Good luck and feel free to add me if you'd like.

Thanks! I'll make sure to look into that. Does the app allow you to access the community part as well? Can't seem to find a tab or option...

Hi-I'm a "newbie" too but even in one week I can't believe how much this app can help you focus on what you eat.

I used to think my breakfast porridge (or oatmeal !!) was healthy until I realised my portion size had twice as many calories as I thought it had...food for thought.xxx

Hello and welcome I signed up about an week ago and the support here is wonderful
  • I think the community is great! I got a smll food scale from target for about $6 to weigh my chicken and fish intake and definitely keep an eye out on what the serving size. As a diabetic, I also have to keep an eye out for sugars and carbs. Wish the app had a way to access the community part of MFP instead of haven't to load up safari.

I'm a fellow diabetic, too! Just diagnosed last October. My doctor told me it wasn't weight-related because I've been at a healthy BMI for years, but I still need to keep my weight in check and MFP has been a huge help.

I wish we could access the community from the app, too, but I don't think it's possible. Feel free to add me as a friend!
