Best Scale?

Well, after weighing myself today on the 2 different scales that are in this house, I know that one MUST be wrong. We are talking, a 28 lbs difference. I put the high number when I finally finished my profile, since I just joined today, I am letting that be my starting point until I know differently. I want accuracy, real accuracy, though, especially since I am just starting out. So, any preferences on decent home scales? I honestly, after that debacle, do not know how much I weigh.

That's gotta be a bummer! I have the glass Weight Watchers scale, its pretty inexpensive and seems to be accurate. I weigh the same on the scale at the gym as I do on this one anyway. Good luck!

This is the one I had. It has great reviews and it works well. If you do get it, a word of advice would be to weigh yourself more than once at any time because sometimes the first number is inaccurate.

I also had a Biggest Loser scale before this one. Waste of money. It said I was about 7 lbs heavier than every other scale I used. Do not buy it.

Put something that you already know the weight of on each scale and see which is more accurate.

Mine is a really cheap electric thing I have had for years but it is accurate and matches the one at the gym.

are the scales calibrated correctly? if they are analog scales that have the little pointer needle things, make sure they are on a flat surface, take it outside if you have to, because even the ridges in tile could throw it off. take something you know the real weight of, like a 5 lb bag of sugar and see what it says. then calibrate accordingly.

This is the one I have http://www.amazon.com/EatSmart-Precision-Capacity-Recognition-Technology/dp/B004L6NTHU
it measures body fat, water and lean mass as well as overall weight It is pretty sweet!

The fat% measurement doesn't match the one my dietitian has, but at least I can see a trend

This is true. My scale was off by a few pounds because I have a walk in shower, thus a tilted floor. I put mine in the kitchen. As for weighing outside, I live in an apartment complex and do not want the neighbors to see me naked.

Thanks for all the advice! I think these are just old, they are my mom's. She swore off the scale long ago, and couldn't care less.

And yes, Fatty, they are the ones with the little pointers! different every time. No telling. I'll start weigh ins once I choose a real scale. At this point wondering what the number is will be frustrating.

Thanks again, you guys are an awesome help.

Which ever scale you choose to use will be fine regardless of what the number is. You just have to continue to use that same scale all the time. The number is just a place holder assigned to a measure of ur weight. What you are really wanting is for that place holder to go down. Good Luck we will be here for you....
