Classic movies from 2010 to as far back as you can go.
My daughter and I watch a movie every night, we don't watch TV otherwise. We're quickly getting through all we want to watch and are running out of ideas. Just finished the Narnia series, about to start on the Lord of the Rings Trio. We'll watch the Terminator series. Sound of music. Anything. All genres would be good. I'd like to cover Westerns, foreign, Anime, Action, adventure, comedy anything !!!
What's you favourite movies of all time. Suitable for a 12 y/o. No explicit sex Scenes, but themes ok. Not too much horror, gore is ok, but not prefered.
I'd also like to introduce some education without being obvious like, history, geography and politics.
Whenever I get to the movie store I get a mental blank, so I'd like to take a list in.
I need 190 movies! Go!

Hmmm.
Check out The Court Jester with Danny Kaye. The Princess Bride. Legend is great--Tim Curry is one of the most underrated actors. Sleep Hollow's a lot of fun0 -
That should be Sleepy Hollow.0
-
Miyazaki movies - Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds, etc.
Robin Hood - the Errol Flynn version, and the Disney one - there are lots more, but either I haven't seen them or they're hard to find. Or they're really bad.
I second Watership Down - the 1978/2008/2010 version (the latter are 'deluxe edition' DVDs), not the TV cartoon which was also released on DVD.
Spirit, Stallion of the Cimmaron
The Incredibles
The Gods Must Be Crazy
Galaxy Quest, especially if either of you like Star Trek
The Librarian series (Quest for the Spear and I forget the other two)
I watch a lot of anime/animation - these are good stories, not saccharine-sweet children's stuff, though. Some of them have somewhat scary scenes, but I have a very low tolerance for horror, so if your daughter can handle "some gore", they should be fine.0 -
Hm...
Indiana Jones
Ghostbusters
Big
The Goonies
ET
Lost Boys (Think its a 15 but I don't think theres that much "gore" in it)
Hook
Zulu (If you have the patience to sit down for 3 odd hours to watch it )
Any of the Carry On films (Plenty of them to keep you going for a while)
Any of the James Bond films
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Jurassic Park0 -
Brave. It just came out in theaters tonight, but it is a wonderful mother-daughter movie!0

My kids *LOVED* Flight of the Navigator! They like all the old movies from when I was a kid. LOL! Legend, Willow, Labrynth, The Goonies, etc.0 -
John Wayne movies are always a great way to go for westerns. McClintock! is a lot of fun for kids aka the 'fight' in the mud pit. The Searchers is considered one of the top 100 movies of all time. I know that the American Film *kitten*. has a book that lists their top ranks which I would totally look up. She may be a bit young to understand all themes but I think it is wonderful to give kids an introduction and hopefully a love for classic movies.0

Matilda
