Is there a vitamin or food or something I can use to reduce the serious "red face" I get when in class and working out? My face gets so red (and it's hot as hell in the room too) that I look like I have a serious sun burn. about 15 minutes into class and I'm lit up like a Christmas tree. It's embarrassing.

Mine does too... it's nothing to be embarrassed about. :P Pretty common, actually. Increased heart rate, faster blood flow, more blood flushed to the cheeks. I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially since it's only when you work out and it's completely normal.0

The amount of blush that shows during exertion is totally genetic. It has to do with how quickly your body responds to a rising temperature and you skin tone.0

mine does that too! it's because you're getting hot, so your blood vessels rise nearer to the surface of your skin to release the heat through radiation. Bloody annoying and embarrassing tho!0

I'm joining the red face club! I can go from "pale and interesting" to "someone forgot the sun cream" in around 7mins of running.
I also get a flush down my neck and onto my chest, thats worse when I'm exclusively weight training!!0 -

I wouldn't worry about it, I get a beetroot face when I'm working out too :happy: Although I'm a bit self conscious of it I just try to view it as my body's thumbs up to me letting me know I put a lot of effort into my workout.0

half the room will likely be too paranoid about how red & sweaty they are to even notice how red & sweaty you are.0

Mine does too I take an anti histamine before I exercise if I have to be anywhere afterwards, otherwise I just suffer it. It calms down eventually. yellow/green toned primer is good too.0

I get that too, but I've noticed it isn't nearly so bad when I'm drinking enough water. Are you properly hydrated?0

If I go anywhere after I work out, people think I have a terrible sunburn. It takes awhile to go away to. Just something I live with.0

as far as I'm concerned if you're not red faced you're not working out! Its ridiculous to worry about appearances when' you're in a gym. You are there to SWEAT.0

I am pretty sure I drink enough water but a bit more couldn't hurt.
And antihistamine? As in, allergic to working out?
Yeah, the other people in my taekwondo class get a little flushed but when we got int he car my kids were like OMG MOMMA YOU ARE SO RED and when I looked in the rearview it was so much worse than anyone I had seen in the class. But of course they are all decently tanned and I am white as snow.0 -
Happens to me every time. I had a girl stop me in the middle of TaeKwonDo sparring the other day to tell me I was purple!!0

If I'm running or really going for it at the gym, my face is puce (that's more of a purple colour than red). I also sweat like someone has dumped a gallon of water over me. I used to care when I was younger (I'd blush easily too), now I'm old and cranky and couldn't give a f**k! :happy: I'm working hard, you better believe I'm a sweaty, purple trembling mess!0

I get the exact same thing and just deal with it. I was embarrassed at first, but now I treat it like a pride thing to show everyone else that, yeah, I'm kicking *kitten* in here!!
P.S. you could always try putting on a light natural mineral powder on your face to diminish the redness.0 -

I used to get this a lot when doing power walking years ago on the trails. It WAS annoying because these people would be concerned I was going to pass out or something. It was great knowing people were concerned, but not so great when the people wouldn't believe you and kept INSISTING they get you help or water... :grumble:0 -
I'm practically purple during/after my workout. Don't worry about it, its nothing to be embarrassed about :-)0

I don't think there's anything you can do about it, it's a function of your genetics and how the blood flows to your pores. You could buy a really powerful personal fan and try to mount it in front of you during class though maybe. Brookstone sells some pretty good ones.0

Red facer right here!! Someone said about it being a reaction to heat which makes so much sense because I can't handle the heat of the sun fantastically either, I can get pretty bad prickly heat but have to take antihistamines when it's really hot (thankfully I live in the uk) Nice to know I'm not the only one..

I often wish that people could find peace with and acceptance of their natural bodies and inclinations... and especially not try to medicate it away. Please, for greater health and well being, just love your healthy self the way you are. Shine on, radiant ones! Shine like the sun! Brilliant like a rose! Glowing with health and life! Vibrant!

No- not bad... no need to change- please don't try to be to like everyone else, nor expect everyone to conform into one solid mass of grey. I love the colors- all of them.
A good response to the kids or anyone else, "It's the color of health!"
Now I've been smiling lately, thinking about the good things to come

Are you fair skinned? I am (pretty much transparent) and I get red really quickly. Like everyone else has said, there isn't much you can do about it but know that you're red because you're a BAMF. I figure if I look like death after a workout, I did well.0

I'm red to some extent all the time - damn fair Irish skin, lol Nothing like having someone tell you that you need to put on less blush for a show, when you hadn't put any on to begin with! It used to bother me when I was younger and tried to wear makeup, mostly just so I didn't hear the comments all the time, but now I'm just too lazy and don't care. Still really annoying and embarrassing (especially in front of your boss - I have random periods where my face just fully flushes and inevitably I'll do this when talking to them, and they're like 'is something wrong?' urk...) but hell, its just not worth fretting over since there's nothing much to be done about it. Most people I work around now I think are used to it, so I don't get so many comments anymore...0
