I am new on here and live in IL. I have gained 40 pounds in the past 6 years---uuuuggh!!! I am now 25 pounds overweight and can't seem to get it off. I need some motivation and support. I work in an office where there always seems to be food and I am a late evening snack junkie.

Welcome to MFP!
This site isn't a miracle worker but here you will find inspiration, motivation, and support from friends who are dealing with the same issues you are. :flowerforyou:0 -

You're in the right place. Counting calories, being transparent, and getting support from others is a great and practically infallible way to lose.0 -
I don't know what you have tried before but, after seeing the amount of calories you intake in a day and some of the calories that are associated with certain foods (who woulda thought cheese could be sooo much). You hold yourself accountable for what you take in and what you use to burn it.
Good Luck, you can add me as a friend if you want0 -
Hi kbelle,
Welcome to MFP! I've been here since January, and I really enjoy the people and support here. I have been up and down since I had my first child almost 20 yrs ago, and I felt like it was time. A friend at work told me about MFP, and I love it. Just keeping track of everything I eat is the biggest help, but being able to say your weight and not have people look at you funny is also a bonus. I live in Newfoundland, Canada, so our choices here for weight-loss supports are Weight Watchers , TOPS, or HerbalLife. Not that great a selection. I lost 30 lbs 2 yrs ago but I dislocated my hip and within a year, I put on 40lbs! Now it's time to get it off again. I'm down 19 lbs (but only 16 lbs on MFP) so I'm close to halfway. I like coming here to be accountable for what I eat, but it's a positive thing! I don't log my exercise because I found that my day always ended in a deficit, and it was bothersome to me. You'll find that what works for one, may not work for you, but you'll get all kinds of great ideas and support and make something work for you. Best of luck! Add me if you want.0
