hi i have managed to lose 75 lbs so far in 8 months through a lot of exercise and watching cals,i have mainly done cardio, lots of running ,swimming, cycling, and walking but very little resistance or strength work the only thing i do is use the resistance bands on ea active for the wii now and again but i normally opt out and go for a run instead

i am currently around the 220lb mark would be happy to reach 190-200 i have just bought some hand weights to use at home(can not get to a gym easily) my question is should i start to use the weights now? will they make much difference? or do i just carry on what i am doing lose another 30lbs then start?

I started strength training and it actually helped me loose more wt because you burn cals by doing the weight traning. Also muscule burns more cals than fat while at rest. I have lost a total of 70 lbs but I think I have gained a lot of muscule and tone so I think I look smaller than the 177 I currently am....Good Luck

And strength training helps strengthen your bones. I don't how old you are or m/f but with women over 40 especially, weight training is very important. I say it can't hurt, and will most certainly help. Plus it will spice up your work-out.

Definately lift some iron! You will love the way you will start to look and your clothes will fit better. Remember that muscle weighs twice as much as fat but only takes up half the space!!
  • strength training will help to tone up! go for it :flowerforyou:
