Dodged a bullet there, didn'tcha cupcake? Imagine if this asshat had succeeded in concealing his douchebaggery 'til after the wedding?Baby names thread just made me think of one of my favorite dates as of late... {{snip}}0 -
Exactly. Consider it a gift. Sure, the gift was wrapped in outdated insensitive Christmas wrapping with a Summer's Eve bow. But still a gift.I literally laughed. And as light heartedly as I could, I said "Hey, Jacka$$, that's seriously MY CHILD'S NAME! What the hell?"
And he babbled. We both knew that was it, gobbled up and parted ways.0 -

We meet for dinner (blind date). He's good looking, has teeth, wore shoes, and managed decent conversation... it was all on the up and up. Then he asks, "What is your son's name again?"
I tell him it's Leland (which I'll soon delete to protect my anonymity).
He replies, "GOD! Why do people keep making up stupid names for their kids. I don't get it."
Ummm.... he's ya know... already born. He's my child. And that was the name of my great uncle who died at 13, but would now be 88. It's an old name, but a real name, f*cktard.
OMG, what an *kitten*.0 -

Did anyone else think that there maybe should be more to picking the date than this??
I know there are slim picking out there but comon honey... anyone can BUY a set of teeth.... and lets hope by the age of child rearing that most men would at least wear a pair of flip flops...
I DO hope that next time instead of a BLIND date maybe you could get a MUTE date... :laugh:0 -
On the plus side, at least he outted himself as a douchecanoe right off the bat, rather than making you figure it out.0

BWAHAHAHA! Hubby and I refused to tell anyone what we would name him - Best decision I ever made. People are so judgmental. Once it's done, they know to shut their trap. When I was pregnant I told everyone that if I was having a girl I was naming her Ruth . . . beautiful, simple, slightly ofd fashioned, and a family name on both sides. When I had a boy my mom said "Thank God, I hate that name" to which I promptly responded "I'm not done having kids, and the fact that you would feel it approriate to say that to me makes me even more determined to have a girl the next time."
For what it's worth, I love the name Ruth. If I was still using my baby-maker it would actually be in the running.
I, too, chose not to tell anyone my son's name until he was born. Partly because I didn't want to listen to everyone's opinions about it, but mainly because I didn't want to have to keep repeating that I DIDN'T CARE about their opinions.0 -

We did the same. We threw some names out there, but didn't tell anyone when we made the final decision. I was so glad to do it that way, and I'll do the same again.
Also...I love the name Ruth as well.0 -
