    What's more important is how much you eat and making sure you get in your correct macro/micro nutrients.

    I'm sorry, but I just don't believe this. There are no foods that affect one body part or another. There is no scientific basis for this. Body fat is stored in certain areas of the body because that is how humans are built though some of us distribute our weight differently based on our genetics. When we restrict calories and thereby lose weight, there aren't certain foods that cause the fat to come from a certain area of fat deposits. The body just doesn't work that way physiologically.

    Yeah, I just replied with basically the same thing. A food that you eat doesn't subtract fat from one body part. That just isn't scientifically possible.

    the first few paragraphs are good. just need to take them into context. That will help you get abs if you need something to follow, that will work.

    that being said, eat a deficit, preferably meeting your macros and eventually you'll get there

    Food intolerances can bloat you. That isn't what the article is talking about though.

    I have the Flat Belly Diet book and it says the same thing: Exercise, eat good foods (especially good fats), and limit salt & other crap which can make you bloated.

    I don't think this post is so outrageous to warrant all the snarky, special snowflake responses calling it a fraud, but whatever makes them feel smart I guess...

    There's a difference between a "flat" belly and a "ripped" belly. Even people with some fat can have a flat belly and a lot of legit research points to good fats as being an important part of any plan that hopes to reduce belly fat. While it's true that you won't get any results as long as your caloric intake exceeds the number of calories you burn, WHAT you eat really does play a role in how your body shapes up in the end.
  • Iced green tea sounds good. I've heard great things about about chiaseeds and coconut water but didn't know they were helpful for belly area though. And I will try some other foods as well, thanks for your post.

    WHAT I eat sure doesn't affect my shape as much as how much of it I eat.
  • I think that it's less about specific 'foods' than simply sticking to a low carb diet and cutting back on sugars and salt. I've found that <85 g on days that I don't work out (or do something only like walking to work) and <150 g on days that I work out took care of excess belly fat quite quickly while still giving me enough energy to perform well at CrossFit and even have increased energy during the day. I'm getting the carbs only from fruits and vegetables.

    Fair enough... the overall content of the post isn't too bad. All those seem like reasonable suggestions for general weight loss. But that's all. General weight loss.

    The headline and the constant "flat belly" mentions are just bogus though. They are there to generate clicks, ad revenue, and to get people to focus on whatever fad or ulterior motive the author has .

    Notice that not one of the foods listed mentions anything specific about why that particular item will help your belly get flat. It's because none of them alone will. Your belly gets flatter due to weight loss... period. Let's look at another example. I used to wear size 12-12.5 shoes. I now wear an 11-11.5. My feet got smaller from general weight loss. So this article could just as easily be titled:

    "Smaller Feet Foods"

    Sounds ridiculous, no? That's why we snark.

    I think it says it all. Basicly exercise and eat right. None of those alone will help too much you need to combine.
