How do you log homemade food?

I was wondering about this for a while. When I make crab salad or tuna salad, I log each individual item and put how much I plan to eat of it.

Is it better to do it that way or is it better for me to search for the "tuna salad" rather than put each individual ingredient in?

Go to recipes and add your recipe. You will have to title it and log each ingredient the first time. After that, just go to your recipes and add the title you gave it.

You can use the receipe builder. You will still have to log each item but you won't have to divide it up and will only have to do that once. You set the number of servings and it will divide it all for you. I use it all the time for homemade stuff.

I use the recipe function and then log every item I am using and the amounts so I only have to do it once - the trouble with using generic entries is chances are they are not using exactly what you are

If there is a quicker way then I would love to know what but I suspect there isn't

You can do recipe builder, or after you've added everything you can "save as meal" and choose it again another day. That works a little easier than recipe builder if you tweak it slightly each time because it will still input copy/paste each ingredient separately, so you can just omit/add the different ingredient instead of having to go into recipe builder and edit, or having to create a new recipe.

I add the recipe for anything I think I will use more than once. If it's questionable, I'll guesstimate it initially and then add it if I like it and will make it again.

I go to the recipes section and create recipe with all the ingredients and add to my dairy as servings. I do this all the time.
